  1. You're probably right. I was just looking for some justification as to why my rejection was never sent. It seems weird to not send out all or none of the rejections, unless those few officially rejected only got their decision because they had to bug the crap out of the graduation admissions secretary until they got it.
  2. Looking at the results page, it seems like very few people applying to the program actually received their rejections (there were 2 rejections and 2 acceptances, and it's a very selective school). At least that means they probably didn't lose my application. It's also comforting to see that other people also didn't receive rejections from other schools. I think this is pretty ridiculous, but if it's not out of the norm, I guess I can't complain too much.
  3. People who are applying directly out of college in the US will have a similar transcript. Depending on the application deadline, a college senior applicant would have either 3 or 3.5 years on their transcript. It's totally fine!
  4. It's particularly weird though because I didn't have any contact with anyone admissions-related (POI, professor on adcom, whatever) after I submitted my app. I only had a short exchange with the secretary about whether or not some of my documents were received since the portal wasn't working correctly. It's also possible that my decision was somewhere on that portal but I couldn't find it (and I looked quite a few times).
  5. Just curious, did anyone else not hear anything from anywhere they applied to? I'm already really happy with the program I chose to attend, but I find it a little odd that I paid over $50 in an application fee to not even get a rejection. Do you think they lost my application somehow?
  6. I actually got it a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the info, though!
  7. As someone who applied and got honorable mention, it seemed like the essays and recs were overwhelmingly the most important parts of the app. No one really commented on my GPA and someone even commented that it was great that I had taken an upper level math class not normally taken by people from my major (I got a B-). Edit: I also found a few websites with past successful application essays. I would use those to help you write yours.
  8. Oh I didn't read it that carefully. Thanks!
  9. For anyone who got housing or is just generally knowledgable, when do we get move in assignments (like date/room number)?
  10. Should I just ask my advisor, then?
  11. I got my first pick as well (The Warehouse)! When is everyone moving in who's doing on campus housing? It looks like we can move in any time during July/August. Edit: Sorry, didn't see the posts about people not getting things
  12. Just curious, has anyone else not received answers from any of their schools? Obviously I made a decision anyway, but today IS April 15th. Edit: Nevermind, saw a lot of posts above. I don't get why geo programs take so long to give out decisions...
  13. I'll definitely be around! I'll probably be taking at least a class or two in EAPS.
  14. I got rejected from CU-Boulder last week, but I'm so excited to say that I'll be going to MIT for environmental engineering!
  15. This year it was about 2000. The exact number is on the Fastlane website. I don't remember it off the top of my head.
  16. E/E, E/E, VG/VG --> Honorable Menthon. This seems like a total crapshoot. Was hoping for an award since I haven't heard back from 3 schools. Oh well.
  17. Are you a first or second year grad student? Because I think the criteria was something like "Less than 12 months of graduate study by August 1st"... So if you're a first year, you can technically apply again. I didn't realize initially.
  18. Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is nice because the episodes are only 20 minutes
  19. Have you watched Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt yet?
  20. Yeah, I started my application on the later side... At least now I know how to prepare better for next year!
  21. Hi! I figured I'd join the fun. Any other senior undergrads (as opposed to first/second year grad students)?
  22. Apparently NSF graduate fellowship results are likely to be released on Tuesday
  23. I know a couple people who have been accepted to Penn State. My POI reached out to me and essentially said I'm on a waitlist.
  24. Also, this probably goes without saying, but read a few of their papers (if you haven't already).
