  1. I applied to St. John's university, nyu, kean, new paltz, seton hall, mercy college, Montclair and New York medical college I was wait listed at seton hall, new paltz, Montclair, and mercy college Rejected from nyu and kean I was offered an interview for New York medical but declined it because of the cost And I was accepted with assistantship at St. John's! My gres were 158v 154q and 4.0 writing so they were pretty average. Definitely take the time now to research what schools will be the best fit for you I really think that helped me. And try to get involved in research on campus (st John's is a research based program- I really think this is what helped me get in!) let me know if you have any questions I know how stressful the process is and how hopeless it feels but I promise there's hope!!!
  2. It is definitely doable if you do your research! I got in with a 3.3 overall and 3.4 in major and also just found out I received an assistantship as well! Do your research on schools and make sure you apply to as many as possible that are all within your gpa range. I would definitely try to email some professors and see if you can get involved in any research for this last semester. I did that and I really think that boosted my resume enough to get in. Let me know if you have any questions!!!
  3. Ub is extremely difficult to get into. I went there for undergrad and the lowest gpa they took was a 3.6 and only because I heard she had great gre scores. They do take out of major applicants but I would definitely try to keep your gpa as close to a 4.0 as possible for there. Buffalo state college is also a suny and has a masters program as well as fredonia but I'm not sure if they take out of field applicants. I know buff state is much easier to get into though than ub. Good luck!
  4. How do you think it would be appropriate to dress for orientation? Business casual like slacks and a nice top? Or more casual like a nice pair of black jeans with flats and a nice top? Or completely casual? I'm totally unsure and I have orientation tomorrow!
  5. Is anyone from either of these schools looking to rent an apartment in the area? I'm attending St. John's in the fall and I know they're right near each other!
  6. I'm sorry, I meant to say the first day not the last day. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you there's definitely still a chance. Good luck and feel free to ask any questions if your still interested in St. John's next semester!
  7. Yes that was me! I actually just emailed her this morning and she said all the seats have been filled for the fall class, but they're keeping the waitlist until the last day of classes in case someone withdraws. I was hoping to go to mercy since it's cheaper and closer to home but it seems as though I don't really have the option anymore. This process is not fun but don't worry you still have a chance! Who else are you waiting on now?
  8. haha that's fine! My gres were 157 for verbal 154 for math and 4 for writing. I'd definitely look into St. John's!! I know spring admissions are less competitive, and just a tip, when I went for an open house she stressed that they can tell who is actually really interested in their program and who is just applying to apply, so she said they really take it into account if you write in your personal statement why you are interested in them and if it is one of your top choices. so I would suggest making it very personal! I think that helped me for sure! I also didn't get in off any other wait lists and I applied to 8 schools. Good luck let me know if you have any other questions about the program!
  9. I also got in with a 3.3 overall and 3.489 csd. I would build up your resume as much as possible, and retake your gre until you get a good score. I got into St. John's and I know they have spring admissions. Good luck!
  10. has anyone on the waitlist heard any new info?
  11. I saw someone get accepted off the waitlist on the results page
  12. Saint John's University https://www.facebook.com/groups/808386855922676/ I didn't create the group but I haven't seen a link for it in here yet!
  13. Congratulations you must be so relieved!! All the hard work paid off!
  14. I'm trying to stay positive about it, I saw a few acceptances off the wait list on the forum from the past years, so that's a good sign! Also the girl who I worked with as an advisor throughout the application process told me she was originally wait listed, so hopefully they use it!
  15. I just heard back and got waitlisted It is better than a no I guess. I got the email a little after 3pm. Good luck to all!
  16. Thank you it did! I still have to do the writing sample tomorrow so its not over yet.. I'm sure if you email and tell them you need to know before wednesday because you have other deposits to put down they will try and tell you, at least thats what she told me. Good luck!!
  17. she told me that i may not hear until after wednesday because i was waitlisted, she made it seem like everyone should hear by wednesday, she told me if i needed a decision because i had deposits at other schools that i could email her and ask what my decision was, but i dont know if i really want to push them like that
  18. Ok that's such a big relief lol thank you so much for responding!! I hope the Skype isn't too awkward
  19. Are any of the questions speech related or coursework related or is it all personal? Coursework type questions absolutely terrify me!! And is the writing sample also more personal? I cant wait until this interview is over i have it monday via skype
  20. Try using the magoosh website. They garuntee that your score will improve by 5 points or your money back. I believe it's only 100$ too which is cheap compared to the Kaplan programs. I didn't use the actual program just the free trial, but I did like the trial.
  21. Same here! Seeing the acceptances makes me so nervous! My top choice as well, fingers crossed for all of us!!
  22. I am also very confused about the 48 credits taking 5 semesters. I went to the open house and the director said that the TSSLD was included in the 48 credits. They seem super disorganized. I was accepted Feb 18th and they gave me until April 15th to make a decision, I'm waiting until the last minute to send my deposit in because I'd rather go somewhere else if possible.
