Hi all! To those who got in, congrats! To those who didn't, I'm sorry. It's not because you aren't amazing. I'm speaking as a current Stanford GSE student. A few members of my cohort and I were reflecting today on this day last year. A good hand of people didn't have interviews but were accepted, so if you didn't get one that's not on you! I was interviewed, but apparently in my track that's more common. Last year's acceptance rate was under 3% because of the sheer number of applicants. If you have questions or want to reach out feel free to DM me. I'm not your typicaI applicant as I didn't submit GRE scores, I took a break between grad school and taught for four years, and actually come from a non-sociology background (background is in STEM), so my profile may or may not help. Anyhow, I wish you all the best of luck and know that you'll find your next path soon enough!

No funding for part time so I will more than likely decline. It seems you can try and get funding through your advisor or loans or fellowships but those definitely wouldn't cover tuition. I know they fully fund full time PhD students but they only have a few spots for those. I have other options though thank goodness!

Hi all! Check your portal apparently. LOL I found out I got a decision letter because I was just willy nilly checking the portal website. It's from 2/24! Anyways I don't know if other decision letters have come out for those applying for full time (I applied for PhD part time). Good luck to everyone!

Depends on what you're looking for? You can look through the results page of Grade Cafe under Education as well. I also applied to NYU and Colorado University-Boulder. Columbia - Teachers College has a great reputation too.

Hey y'all! I just got an email tonight asking for potential interview next week. Just wanted to keep you in the loop. I guess that means they're still processing applications.
-
I mentioned 3 in my statement and was interviewed by two individually.
-
Sorry, do you mean how I got here or which specialization of GSE?
-
CTE, focus in Science Education. @jk25 this is the first I've heard from anyone. I have two schools I've heard nothing from and an interview for one school next weekend. I wouldn't be surprised if everyone is much behind on their timeline.
-
Yes this!
-
I was told during the interview that once they narrow down the pile they send them to the different tracks (SHIPS, RILES, LDT, CTE, etc.) for those advisors to look through the students who selected them. I believe if you mention a POI they might reach out for an interview. After they pick their top choices they come back and have to narrow the group down again and then it goes to the dean's office so they can make final selections and make a cohort. I was told creating a cohesive cohort is also an essential part of the process.

For the best. I do not blame anyone for reaching out to get any extra info (though I'd not be too obnoxious). It just seemed that the advisors either have to be tight-lipped about information or maybe they don't all hear back at the same time?
-
So I'll be honest. I was a low key wreck yesterday and the day before after seeing acceptances and rejections start rolling onto the results page. Someone in results said they reached out to their POI to get an update because they felt GSE was taking too long? So I gathered up the courage to email my POIs to see if there was any sort of update I'd missed out on (or if they could at least tell me I'd been rejected so I could rip the bandaid off). The reply was along the lines of advisors/department have done their part, it's now in the deans office, "results go out late Feb-early March". We'll update you if anything changes. [insert manic laughing and internal screaming] So I thought I was done for. I decided to reply back to at least thank them for letting me know what the situation was today, but I've recently gotten a reply back saying they received an update from the admissions office and I'll get an official notice that I've been accepted. I've been accepted. ? So lots of things are happening in lots of different ways. Don't give up. Even if it doesn't happen this year don't give up.
-
Definitely makes sense. When I spoke to the Stanford GSE they said they received thousands more applications probably because of HGSE not accepting apps! I'll just keep my fingers crossed and bide my time til March (that's so long T_T)!!
-
Sounds good. I applied to the science and environmental education area of study. I would think they may send out an email letting folks know they're not conducting interviews this year. It is a weird year so maybe that's why. I also wonder if NYU received an influx of applications as well!
