  1. Fair enough, thanks for the clarification!
  2. This kind of question has been asked before, but I have a slightly different angle on it, I think. My field usually does not do interview visits; however, one school I've applied to just started doing them last year, what they call an "open house", but what is really an extended interview sort of thing (no one has been accepted yet). Anyway, I am having to stay with a grad student, per department policy. I'm very introverted, don't like talking much, socially awkward, like being alone, etc. I'm very concerned about having to be "on" all the time and having to think of conversation topics constantly and such. I'll be staying there two nights and spending time with them the afternoon/evening that I arrive but not much the second day because I'll be at the department for a significant chunk of it. I am fairly nervous about this trip, and it's more so because of the accommodations than the interviews themselves, although I have little reason to be concerned, as I've already corresponded via email with the grad student, and they seem to be very friendly and all. I guess I'm just asking, does anyone have any advice or words of encouragement to make this a less painful situation?
  3. re: UNC - I got an email telling me I'm waitlisted yesterday. From how it was written, it seems that all the acceptances have already gone out, but not sure, especially since there have only been two reported here.
  4. Thanks everyone! No, she did not say anything about others, except that emails with funding and other details will be coming on Monday. I don't know if everyone will be getting called or not.
  5. The Georgetown acceptance is me.
  6. Thank you! And, to all Michigan hopefuls, the grad coordinator just responded to an email I sent her earlier this week and says, "We anticipate decisions going out before February 15th. Please watch for an email." So, next week, it is.
  7. Just got waitlisted at UNC. Not a good fit for me, so not too broken up about it.
  8. Who did you talk to at Michigan? I just spoke with the department assistant on the phone, and she said "We usually release decisions at the end of February". According to past years results and according to the UM website, this is not accurate, so I am wondering if it was just an agitated, heard-this-question-too-many-times sort of thing.
  9. I just saw a Chicago acceptance as well. Is it legit?
  10. And... a UNC acceptance has just appeared.
  11. Here. https://lsa.umich.edu/polisci/graduates/admissions/frequently-asked-questions.html
  12. Anyone know anything about Michigan? According to their website, decisions should be coming this week, but in past years, it was around February 10.
  13. Really? Mine has not been.
  14. @kaneross Thank you!
  15. Thanks ultraultra!!
  16. Just got an acceptance email with funding offer from Northwestern Graduate Coordinator.
  17. Too bad this is not like undergraduate admissions where every decision comes roughly at the same time (in the US, at least).
  18. A Northwestern acceptance was just posted as well. I'm getting very anxious because I've applied to both of these schools...checking my email constantly!!
  19. This is probably a very stupid question, but does anyone know - for the schools that use ApplyYourself, when a decision is available, do you get an email? Or do you just have to check the site randomly to see if a decision has appeared? The former is preferable, obviously, because I don't want to be having to check all the sites repeatedly as the time for decisions nears. Much easier to just refresh my email every 5 seconds.
  20. Odd, but I checked the website as well, and I got admitted too!!
  21. Thank you! And, I would assume so? Some people have already gotten rejections, I think. And it seems they are only accepting from this shortlisted pool, so...
  22. They are inviting 45 applicants to an open house, after which they will accept 30 and waitlist the remaining 15. I am among this 45.
  23. Pretty sure that person is trolling because the department doesn't even make funding decisions; they recommend accepted students for funding, and then the graduate school makes the final decision on it; that's why OSU funding comes several weeks after their acceptances. But anyway...
  24. Last year, it was around the end of January. And, I don't believe they do interviews.
  25. Hi BFB, when do you expect OSU's decisions will be going out? I know funding does not come until much later, but should admissions be coming soon?
