my POIs are Nosek and Wilson. didnt quite get my hopes up for UVA in the first place. do you know if Nosek is taking anybody?

im not exactly sure who sent out the invitations, the only thing i know is that their interview weekend is the Feb.11th weekend.

thanks for the info!~i was just getting a little too uptight about the upcoming interview...other than that, i think what you said does make a lot of sense. after all, it may very well be less risky for profs to take people they already know. sucks for us tho...

i havent heard anything from UVA. i know someone who's been invited for Cornell's interview weekend tho. good luck!

why r u so certain that umich already knew who they're admitting before they reviewed the applications? r u talking about specific profs? or the department as a whole? do you mind telling who your POIs are?

well i did get invited to their interview weekend and thats why it was frustrating to see the prior post. but i heard they're only taking a couple students this year....better not get my hopes up too much...

yeah...but after a while i kinda got used to everybody telling me about how competitive these programs are so i applied anyways...

yeah i did apply to yale but havent heard anything whatsoever from POI or the department so im prob out. not too surprised tho. congrats to those that got in!!

I believe some profs prob do take people that they knew previously. but i would think (or hope) they still look at other applicants. Why else would they pay to fly people out there for interviews? Am I really too naitve in trusting these programs to look at applicants' credentials??
