  1. LadyL-im so glad to see this thread! i had the same worries when i went on interviews. i particularly agree with what you said about us being at the entry-level of academia. i would prob care less when im more established i wouldnt say im particularly dressy but i do like adding a little creativity into my everyday wardrobe. i'd never wear a boring suit. i love vintage and this tends to be the norm at my current school so im very used to it. it was fine at one of my interviews. however, i was just totally blown off by what people were wearing at a few other interviews. it made me feel very out of place, indeed. i know it doesnt matter so much, but i tend to get very conscious of whether the way im dressed makes me out of place...
  2. are you interested in working with primates at all? you said you're interested in studying Alzheimer's but I'm not sure if you're interested in primate models. If so, I'd say Emory would definitley be a good place since they have such a wonderful resource for that. However, I don't know much about the neuroscience program at UCLA. But congrats on having such wonderful options to choose from:)
  3. having a bit more motivation for this last semester of college... and then of course, grad school
  4. its so great to see so many people are interested in social neuroscience:) I AM TOO
  5. so excited about making a decision soon:)

im also trying to compare chicago vs. nyc, and it would be great if people who know these cities better could convince me one way or the other. i personally know nyc pretty well but have never been to chicago...
  7. i saw a northwestern acceptance in social psych on the results page. does that mean i should scratch northwestern off of my list?
  8. im pretty sure Rutgers is having their interview weekend on Feb.27th. i heard from them early jan. im in social psych btw.
  9. im just really hesitant about asking explicitly whether im accepted or not, esp. considering the email that a lot of people received this morning about how official acceptances wont be out until early march. that being said, it is a little frustrating not knowing what the status is on my application.
  10. hmmmm the one i've been invited to is Feb 27-Mar 1. guess it sounds more like an interview.
  11. i got the same email...and at the same time invited to their prospective students weekend. dont know what it means, does it mean its still completely diagnostic at this point?
  12. so it turn out to be a lot less severe than the weather forecast said (in my area) so i should have no problem making my way out to the airport and flying to my first interview weekend. good luck to the rest of you!
  13. i got invited to their "prospective students weekend". is it an interview or a visit after acceptance? so confused...
  14. i got accepted into their social program. but i dont know whether that means anything about the development program.
  15. i went shopping last weekend and got my interview outfit too, since i didnt have a suit and thought i'd need one sooner or later. i have appropriate flats to wear since i never wear heels, but im worried considering where im going for interviews its probably too cold to wear flats. i think i may still have to wear boots even though they look sort of weird with the suit. oh well.
