  1. Thank you so much! I didn't even know about the orientation. Did you receive info on it?
  2. Apply to as many schools as possible. I had a 3.6 GPA. 305 Q/V GRE. 5.0 AW. I applied to 16 schools (California, Texas, Portland, Tri-state) and only got into 1. Apply, apply, apply. Research schools that focus more on last 60 credits if that helps. Volunteer work in the field if possible. It may seem very expensive to apply to a bunch of schools (it is), but all you need is one acceptance and you're good to go. Good luck!
  3. Has anyone been able to register yet? I received a couple letters stating that I should go ahead and register, but haven't received any info regarding how to do it or any log-in info. I've reached out to the department a few times (emailed twice, called once) and nothing. Anybody have better luck than I? Also, is there a FB group?
  4. I'm currently taking a basic stats/probability course at a community college. I was told that was okay too!
  5. I haven't heard anything from Willy P yet. I received an acceptance from Kean at the end of March. They sent out some rejections already, so I'm thinking they are keeping an interim wait list. If you haven't heard from them, you're probably on it. I know that I was required to secure my position by April 10th, so I'm assuming they will send out a few more acceptances after that based on how many people declined their spots. Perhaps Willy P is doing the same thing.
  6. How much cold are you willing to withstand? Massachusetts is significantly colder than New Jersey. It may sound like a trivial thing to consider, but if you're not used to East Coast winters, it is kind of a big deal. I'm from New Jersey (born and raised) and now live in LA. I don't know anything about Worcester, but from little info I've read, sounds like it's a college community. If you're looking for that, you'll probably enjoy Worcester more. William Paterson isn't one of the bigger colleges in NJ.
  7. When did you receive notification that you were denied? My portal stays they're still reviewing my application. :-/
  8. I totally understand. It's not fair that they require us to do this when we're obviously still waiting to hear from other schools, but I understand that they want to move forward with getting spots secured. This whole process brings so much anxiety! If you have any questions about California living, feel free to ask me. I applied to Northridge for the Master's Prep Program and almost went there, but decided on CSULA instead because my interactions with the COMD department at CSULA just left me feeling more informed and comfortable. Cost of living in California is incredibly expensive, so that is something you should most definitely consider should you get in to CSUN. Congrats on your acceptance to Kean! And best of luck on your other applications!
  9. Thanks so much! I applied to 16 schools! The Chair of the COMD department had a meeting with CSULA prospective grad students prior to application season and he pretty much let us know what our chances would be considering our GPAs. He mentioned how incredibly competitive California programs are and that if we were considered "borderline" (lower than a 3.8 GPA), we should definitely look into applying out of state. I was born and raised in NJ, so I looked back home for schools. Kean isn't ideal (although my parents literally live 10 minutes away), but I am just soooo incredibly glad to have been accepted somewhere. I've already received rejections for most of the LA schools (including CSULA) with the exception of Northridge who hasn't notified anyone yet. I've also applied to schools in NorCal and Texas. Still waiting for word from Sacramento, San Jose and UTD. Yes, I will be accepting my spot at Kean because I really cannot afford to risk losing it. I hate to be one of those people who will renege their spot after the fact, but a move across the country will be incredibly costly for me and I'd like to avoid it if I can. However, if no one else wants me, back to Jersey I go! How about you? Have you accepted your spot at Kean?
  10. Just received an acceptance letter from Kean! Oh my lord, biggest relief!
  11. I'm currently in the post-bacc program at CSULA. Someone said it earlier, GPA is probably the most looked at credential. You should be fine with a 3.7, though. Best of luck! I really did love the master's prep program at CSULA. Also, word of advice if you get into the program: Aim for that 4.0, join NSSLHA and get to know as many people in the department as possible. The CSULA grad program is sooo hard to get into and GPA is the main thing they look at (avg gpa 3.9 to be admitted), but if you know the people in the department, they can pull for you.
  12. I'm originally from NJ and presently attend CSULA for a master's prep program because I didn't major in COMD. Competition for the California programs is EXTREMELY stiff. 3.9 average gpa to get accepted, hence why I have looked into applying at schools back East. Looks like competition is just as stiff there as well. It's a rough game this SLP grad school business. Gotta have a passion for it! Good luck to all.
  13. Those of you wanting info about UTD, there is a separate thread with some decent information.
  14. It's totally understandable to be frightened, but you'll be fine. Just keep an open mind. I moved from NJ to California leaving all my friends behind and it terrified me at first, but I adjusted. You have the benefit of being a future member of a small group of people all interested in the same goal as you are. It's going to be such a great experience for you!
  15. Has anyone heard anything at all from them? Does anyone know when they typically send out decisions?
  16. To the poster looking for information from TWU, it seems as though they notified their acceptances and waitslist candidates on 3/13. Maybe email the department? Good luck!
  17. Kean sent out rejections and acceptances, but I haven't heard anything at all! St. John's as well. Anyone on the same boat?
  18. Just wanted to post on here and mention that the admissions department was severely behind in processing transcripts. I mailed mine in at the end of January and they weren't finally processed in the system until the beginning of this month. I spoke with the department and they said they are well aware of this issue and it will not a play a factor in decision. I'm still waiting to hear, however. This is my top choice. I really hope I get in.
  19. Thanks for the info! No, not much. My brother went to St. John's for undergrad and it is a good school. I'm freaking out! I'm in LA but originally from NJ and since the schools in LA are nearly impossible to get into, I applied to schools back home too! I applied to Kean as well. I heard they sent out a couple of acceptances already, but I haven't received anything. I also applied to Montclair in the area. Congratulations on your acceptance to St. John's! I'm sure having at least one acceptances makes the wait process not as bad. I'm hoping for at least one! Good luck on the others!
  20. How did you hear from St. John's? I also applied there but haven't heard anything yet. I am on the west coast, however....
