Yes, it is hard to not feel like your home institution you have a good shot at. I have no idea when the rest will be out, or if they already are even.

It was an email from someone in the dept. Our Spire system is down till early next week so checking it won't matter I don't think. Honestly I'm really disappointed since this is my home school, some of my letters were from people in the dept. and I have a 3.9 GPA in the MA program alot of the faulty joint teaches in. I really thought I was a great fit, and was thinking I would get in (I know, never assume anything!). I hear there was alot of competition this year though, and I know they're looking for a diverse research interest cohort. I'm going to have a positive attitude about it, and just be thankful to have at least made the wait list. I'm going to try to keep my hopes up high to get off the waitlist as people make their decisions. I really wanted to stay here, and the faulty I know there are all fantastic. It's a great program, and all hope is not lost yet.

Yes like I said... the same one most US schools use, the mid April one.

I know they accepted 8. I know all 8 of those people were informed via mail and email by now. I have no idea about waitlists. The normal april date most schools have

I got an email today from Northeastern, saying I'm a top applicant and inviting me to a paid-for 2 days welcome and get to know the dept event. Sounds like we eat, meet faculty and students, and basically get interviewed by our POI. This is not an acceptance, but they say decisions will come after it, so I think theyre using it to make their selection from...?

I got my offical Brown rejection today... which I had already figured was coming. However, the generic letter was kind of mean almost... definitely not a nice or thoughtful one.

It's too big of a choice not to be clear on! I've already started a list for my visit. You had some much better choices anyway though, so your going to do great!

Oh weird, maybe I should be reading more into my offer there... The way it read to me was that basically funding is almost always continued as long as you have been progressing in the program, have a good job review, and the school doesn't suddenly like slash the dept. budget. I thought those were pretty typical things most schools say in regards to funding. I'll def. have to ask specifically about this when I go.

Oh no You were a fellow Uconn admit with me in the 8! Out of curiosity, may I ask how your funding offer there compared to the others? I totally understand why you declined though, Penn State is such a great choice!

Fingers crossed for you! I've always heard that mid-march is when the waitlists really start moving.

Where do you have acceptances to? I would suggest you bring a few different outfits if the visits are overnight, or have a few different "events". Bring a more professional look for most of it - like black slacks, a nice blouse, maybe a professional type jacket. Then a more dressed up type of look in case they have a dinner thing - a cute (but not revealing!) dress round knee length or a skirt and nice top to go with it. I would also bring a more casual outfit in case the next morning there's like an informal breakfast or meet and greet tours with current students - nice jeans (no tears, and darker in color tends to look nicer normally) and a nice sweater (if your touring a colder region)

Umass Amherst has a lot of gender work actually, if you do end up doing another cycle, def. give them a look! Do you know where on the waitlist you are? Maybe that'll work out!

I know, I live in the middle of it! I think maybe this might impact Amherst since we've had a day off and multiple delays just in the last week. However, the schools I think we're missing arent actually "late" is you look at their results historically.... we're just impatient!

It was not my top choice (still crying inside about Yale and Brown *sigh*), but the fit was pretty good for me honestly. I def. could have formed a committee there and had quite a few choices on an advisor. I think since I've been considering it a rejection since I first saw that admit a while ago, I'm more over it now =P At this point while I'm anxious to hear back from them all of course since I wouldn't have applied if I wasn't at least a decent match, I'm most stressed about Brandeis and Umass Amherst right now.

Ah finally someone else who applied there as well! Yes, not a peep out of them as far as I see. It looks like in past years results were out the last 1-2 weeks of Feb. so maybe this isn't late for them yet. I saw some acceptances though too, and thats why I thought maybe I'm rejected?
