Can someone explain the summer thing...? They don't expect you to be on campus during the summer if your not even getting paid right? So unless your doing research or teaching (with $$$) you cna go elsewhere for the summer to cut down costs right?

I think my Stony Brook interview went well, but its so hard to tell. It was with my POI, so that was exciting at least. Some info for others who applied there- Results will be out in about 2 weeks. Incoming cohort will be about 4. All funding packages will include 4-5 years funding in TA and RA work, no summer money, and about 350 a year for conferences. In past years they've had really good placement rates at teaching universities T2 occasionally T1.

Also - anyone want to claim the State University Of New York At Albany acceptance on the board? there's a single one, and I've heard nothing form them at all either... so intrested how you found out?

Can someone elaborate on what you got from Brown? personal letters or an email to check the portal?

Stony Brook emailed me this morning to schedule an interview.

I got my acceptance last friday informally. But yesterday the graduate school generic email to check your website portal came.... at the very bottom of that page it has a tiny link to click that says there is a decision letter to view.

Thanks, I'll cross my fingers its a waitlist xD I've applied to 10 and only head back from one officially... though it sounds like a rejection or waitlist is coming.

That's really great! Congrats again! the offer sounds good! This def. sounds like they notified those accepted unofficially, and the rejections will just come out officially afterwards

So strange its nearly a month earlier than normal. Well congrats, I'm sure your thrilled ! Did it say how many people they took? or how many applied? What's the offer like? Ya, I'm gonna have to guess I was rejected or waitlisted if I don't hear today. Weird there is only one on the board though for acceptance, normally alot more show up.

Also- Just saw a new BU acceptance on the board saying an email from Friday? Can anyone confirm this? There's only the single one, could be a troll.... and I've heard nothing from them? :/ Historically seems a little early to have heard back...?

Mostly about the approachability of profs, and their willingness to help you for the most part, strong encouragement to present papers at conferences, they tend to have quite a large international body in comparison with many other state universities, the past few years they've gotten quite notable relationships going with other institutes

Really?! that's the smallest entering class in like 10 years...

What schools are we expecting next week?

Oh follow-up to my post yesterday when I got an informal dept. letter saying I was going to be admitted at Uconn. Right now I nice email from one of the profs that I had said I would like to work with. Basically just a congrats from her, saying she just heard the news and was excited to work with me, and had been very impressed with my application, and to contact her if I had questions or wanted to come visit soon. I know a few years ago the dept. didn't have such a great reputation, but I've heard only good things in the last few years... and honestly both my emails so far have been really nice and welcoming. Anyone know any current street rumors about the dept.?

Has anyone heard anything from Umass Amherst?, I know other departments including my own have been meeting last week for review.... but havent heard on this particular dept.
