  1. I made a similar post in the Bloomington City Guide thread, but figured I'd post here as well. Anybody found a decent living situation yet? I'm traveling to Bloomington in two weeks to scope out apartments, and so far I'm interested in Fountain Park (east of campus on 10th street) and Heritage Apartments (south of campus on Hillside Drive), both managed by Regency. Have you guys found anything else that looks 1) reasonably priced, 2) not too far from campus, 3) away from the undergrad party scene? I might be able to visit them and let you know what I think if you give me any suggestions.

    Bloomington, IN

Just officially accepted my offer of admission! I'm going to Bloomington in two weeks to find an apartment. I've been researching a lot and so far I really like Fountain Park (east of campus on 10th street) and Heritage Apartments (south of campus on Hillside Drive), both managed by Regency. Anybody have any experience with these? Ideally I'd like to be a little closer, but I also want to be safely away from the undergrad party scene.
  3. I can understand they have a lot of candidates to sort through, but it really is quite rude to leave people hanging when they know for sure they can't accept them. I'm thinking of a program I applied to where after hearing nothing and finally asking for my admission status, they told me the program was at capacity and wouldn't be accepting any applications this year. That's fine....so why not tell me when I applied instead of two months later?

I really like Dominion too. My friend has a ton of expansions, so everytime we've played it's felt very fresh. What MMO do you play? I could never get into any, but my SO plays Star Trek Online and has a lot of fun with it.
  5. My SO started out as an online friend, and I became attracted to his personality before I knew what he looked out. Luckily we both ended up being attracted to each other physically as well, but I wonder if we would have worked out if that hadn't been the case, even though we shared such an intimate mental and emotional connection. My brother also met a girl online, and while I love my brother. . . I gotta say she is way out of his league in terms of physical attractiveness. But they seem really happy, so I guess for some people looks just don't matter as much. (And she's definitely not a gold-digger because he lives with my parents and works at McDonalds, lol.)

Haven't played Power Grid yet, definitely looks like fun. And I love Munchkin! Gotta be careful about who I play with though, some people can get pretty salty if they feel like you're ganging up on them.

I'm told underwater basket weaving is a thriving field!

What are your favorite board/card/roleplaying games? I tend to enjoy co-op games more, with Eldritch Horror being my favorite. The most recent one I've been playing is Shadowrun Crossfire. It's pretty fun, but it can be insanely hard to win sometimes.
  9. I'll most likely be attending IU for an MAT in Classics. I'm in Texas now but originally from St. Louis, so I'm happy to be moving back to the midwest.
  10. I had to email my top choice to find out I was wait listed. I emailed another program around the same time about my application status only to be informed that the program was full and they weren't accepting any candidates that year . I'm sure they've already received inquiries other than yours, so don't be afraid to ask.
  11. Not an acceptance, but the first contact I got from a school happened after I got out of class and saw I had 4 voicemails on my phone. The first one was from the school telling me I made their shortlist and inviting me to come for a paid visit. I was so excited that I forgot to listen to the rest of the voicemails on my phone. Then I got home and realized they were from my boyfriend, who was now late to work since I had taken his car to school instead of public transit without realizing he would need it. So he was simultaneously mad at/happy for me, haha.
  12. I think I've been checking my email at least twice every waking hour for the past week. Now that I've found this site, I have something to check in between checking my email.
