  1. Yeah. But Duke apparently doesn't send news of waitlist for anybody, only acceptances or rejections. It may take a while for everybody to know exactly how they are with them.
  2. Let me correct something. Duke probably isn't over for everybody. The results page shows at least three instances of acceptances happening days or even a whole month after the first ones were issued.
  3. IMHO, I think it is. I hope they do not take a lot of time to issue their rejections.
  4. No claim, no pain on my end. Only intensive email checking, of course.
  5. It didn't slow me down, but that may be due to the fact that my SOPs to the schools that accepted me were devoid of such errors.
  6. Not quite. I do have a kind of mental ranking based on every metric I find important, but since I won't be able to visit any program I intend to give all of them the same amount of consideration. But it's hard when more than half didn't respond yet. I hope that by the end of the next week most or all of them communicate their decisions. And then I can proceed to eventual negotiations.
  7. I am okay about it, but if I hadn't been accepted by no program by now I would be banging my head against every wall I found.
  8. And as we head into a probably very busy week here, I noticed only now that two of my SOPs had the type of errors they absolutely should not have. Not typos, but a repeated sentence in one and a truncated phrase in the other. Hope this didn't carry that much weight, but boy how careless.
  9. The whole matter of rejecting offers is making me kind of sad. When I began this process I was expecting to get between 1 to 3 acceptances. And I only applied to programs I absolutely would attend regardless of financial issues, unless of course I felt their funding offers were utterly prohibitive. Now I'm about to have a hard time deciding and an even harder time rejecting schools that I was eager to attend. Of course it's a minor problem compared to get no acceptances (i.e. last cycle), but it's still sad. That said, programs know the drill. And they at least roughly know how much other schools are offering and how they compare to that. They were all prospective students like us and had to decide as well, taking money as a variable as well.
  10. I am. Perhaps this is the reason, but I wasn't expecting it as well for at least a week or two.
  11. You're a psychic. Got my email of acceptance from TAMU's DGS about an hour ago. Fantastic!
  12. I'll be on hold. But sadly we'll not see each other in March. I won't be able to visit any schools. I don't have a visa and it's too expensive to get one for tourists now, pay travel expenses, and then pay everything again and then some more for a J1.
  13. Congratulations, @Kenga! On a Saturday! Now I'll be on hold to see if I get into the Texan Trilogy, but probably this is too good to be true.
  14. I didn't know that. New US News rankings in March? Here goes my hope of making my decision relatively soon...
  15. From my applications, I'd add Rochester to the list of likely decisions next week.
  16. Well, it appears now that only schools west of EST might issue decisions today.
  17. I also didn't apply. But when I saw it I refreshed my email as well. There was an email from Yale. I jumped. During a fraction of a second I could not believe. But It was from Yale Coursera.
  18. Just to correct something I said above: not getting interviewed does not mean rejection at Vanderbilt. There is at least one case of admission without interview from 2016 in the results page, and the email they sent everyone a couple of weeks ago does not state that every potential admitted student will be interviewed.
  19. Yeah, I get that. And there's the fact that I am international, so an interview would probably be on Skype rather than a phone call.
  20. I am. I hope they are not finished with that, since not being interviewed probably means rejection.
  21. This process can be pretty capricious. I reiterate: rejections do not mean you're unfit to doctoral studies, nor do acceptances mean you're awesome. I felt awful last year and I know how painful that can be, but there's always next cycle. And this one is far, very far from over. Let's keep up hope, fellas!
  22. Let's try this. I've been waiting for Rochester all week. Dear trolls, don't scare me with this.
  23. Haven't heard as well, but I think they probably intend to schedule interviews for the next week. What I wonder about interviews: are they for classification or elimination or confirmation or all of the above mixed?
