  1. I am checking that in a minute-by-minute basis.
  2. Thanks. Probably a rejection waits me then.
  3. Good luck! Did you receive an email putting you on the waitlist also, and nothing changed in the application system?
  4. Although I understand that is the correct assumption (to assume nothing), most delayed communications after acceptances have been eventually turned into rejections. It is hard to remain optimistic these days...
  5. Yeah, I thought about that... I will search that site upside down nevertheless.
  6. Congratulations! Now I hold my breath while waiting... Any change in your application status or did you only receive the email?
  7. I want it so much that I fear it.
  8. I should have tried. I feared funding would not be enough for me and my spouse, but since then I learned about the process for her to get a work permit and with this stipend we could be fine even if she worked part time on a minimum wage. Well, if this cycle does not hold up for me...
  9. Almost applied for Pittsburgh. Congratulations! Did they mention anything about funding?
  10. Congratulations to those accepted by Duke and UNC! It is always nice to see someone happy, and that is because we all know how hard it is to wait for the answers. Taking the previous years into consideration, I should be hearing only from NYU this week, one of my strongest fits. Crossing fingers.
  11. I hope that is the only decision I receive today, I do not want to handle another one. Unless it is an acceptance, of course.
  12. I did. I remembered T.S. Eliot almost immediately upon learning of my rejection, since it is the beginning of this month, might as well make some fun of me.
  13. Mine just came in, without any email to inform me. Rejection is bad, but to feel like you are an afterthought is worse. They should review this system.
  14. That is amazing, @Jalapeno2257! Congratulations. I would have advised you to retake the GRE if I saw this thread at the time. I am glad that it was not necessary.
  15. Maybe it will be like a Trump-week -- a YUUUUGE week, but it fails to deliver a win.
  16. I am so sorry for this. But I hope you get more acceptances. Good luck.
  17. LOL. I will wait to kill the cat, because there are other 7 cats for me and I hope maybe two of them get out of their boxes alive. If I were to be crying over seven little dead kitties, then I could face the need to kill the eighth out of mercy.
  18. But this is not the case. Neither me nor Yasir received any rejections, or admissions, or waitlist. Anything. And then we keep asking ourselves what we make of it. And if admission decisions are not made at the same point in time, we would like to know what are the criteria for this. Ultimately, I prefer to deal with that as a Schrödinger box that I will not bother to open in order to avoid killing the cat.
  19. This is really going to be a big week, but so far it was just a tedious Monday morning.
  20. I would not go as far as saying it is easy to get 320, 330 or whatever score you want. But the main point is: should the admissions committees place the emphasis they currently do on GRE scores? If not, what is the alternative? If we are going to carefully review every single application, costs will rise and then applications will not be affordable for most people anymore. Also, GREs are comparable, where GPAs and transcripts really are not (grade inflation is only the first of many problems here). I think our criticisms are mostly correct, but I think some may be missing advantages the current system presents.
  21. If you ask me, I really do not like this approach of sending admission decisions so separately, because I do not know what are the criteria for that. People who know later are waitlisted? So send a waitlist report. People who know later sent their applications later? So say that in your FAQ page, so I can prepare accordingly. I think decisions should be emailed to everybody at once, unless there is a practical reason for that being made differently. In this case I cannot see any.
  22. Got it. Perhaps that is what my source said.
  23. Thanks. Did your POI also said anything about waitlists or late decisions? A source of mine talked about possible March admissions (but I did not understand that entirely, as it contradicts most people of this forum).
  24. This is Wisconsin or Northwestern? I assume it is the former, but I have to ask or I will not sleep well.
  25. Hey, people. No need to get angry at ourselves. I do think it is possible people that are unable to get a 160+ score in quantitative even with training to succeed, especially if there are other indicators of mathematical ability whatsoever (e.g. a quantitative WS). But it is more likely that those people might fail quant sequences than people with the highest scores.
