  1. I really hope Yale will announce some decisions...
  2. 490...that's very short indeed! I was struggling to keep mine under 1000, so Columbia was a nightmare! How much did you adjust your SOP for the different unis you applied to? (Beyond "search replace all" "Stanford" by "Harvard"... )

  4. I am from central Europe; and Stanford is paying me 600 dollars towards the travelling costs. This almost, but not completely, covered the cost of the return flight.
  5. Sounds good. I am happy to post mine come April... a little superstitious.. Not sure whether my SOP was something that helped my acceptance at Stanford (and I havent heard from anywhere else) but I will happily share what I wrote. I suspect that my undergrad record and recommendations were the aspects that got me in, so not sure of how much use it will be. I am an international student, and I had a very limited idea of what is expected from a SOP; and to be honest, maybe that even helped me because I felt less corsetted. On the other hand, I would have liked to see a "good" SOP (whatever that is) before applying myself so I am happy to share... in April.
  6. Congratulations! Very well done! Out of curiosity, would you mind sharing what kind of funding you got? ie what is a very generous offer? I am just asking this because I am an international student and not that familiar with the financial aspects of the American system.I got a 5 year fellowship offered by stanford, but I don't really know if their offer is 'generous' for American standards.

  8. The thing I find most frustrating is that the decisions are probably made, they just haven't been communicated yet...they are just sitting on some office desk right now!
  9. Yale...? Anyone?
  10. Haha... that sounds comforting! Well I am certainly not complaining about my offer from Stanford; I am actually really excited about it. It's just one of those places where I find it hard to imagine myself, and since I have never been (I am European) it feels much more distant than some of the other places I applied to, which I have visited before. But I am definitely going to their Admit Weekend... and who knows, maybe I will fall in love with it!
  11. To an extent, yes. But I was hoping to end up somewhere on the East coast (for personal reasons). So while I am thrilled about Stanford, I am secretly hoping for another offer from Yale, Princeton, Columbia or Harvard.
  12. subfield: IR/ theory interests: international security and the development of security norms, civil conflict, global justice
  13. No idea... I hope soon! The suspense is killing me!
  14. So we should hear from Yale today, right?
  15. I really want to hear from Harvard! And Princeton too! Ahhh!
  16. I did PPE at Oxford (Philosophy, Politics and Economics)
  17. Both. Chandelle Arambula contacted me on Friday morning (GMT+1) with the official offer documents and I have heard from a couple of professors since.
  18. Yes! I already booked my flights! I am European, so it's quite a trek but I am really excited about it! Is Stanford your top choice so far?
  19. I declared ir as my subfield, but said in my sop that I am interested in doing something like a pol theory/ir double concentration.
  20. Hello everyone! I received my first reply last Friday; and it was an offer from Stanford incl. a 5 year fellowship, stipend etc. From browsing through the results thread I figured there are a couple of other people on this forum who got in as well, so I just wanted to say hi and congratulate you! If you got in, are you attending the Admit Weekend in March? And what are your subfields? And, most importantly, any thoughts on whether you will accept your offer yet?
