  1. Ok, a slow start to the week yesterday. Let's hope there will be more (good) news today.
  2. I agree! Since I emailed Harvard last week, I think someone else should volunteer this time...
  3. Yeah... so boring. I hope they are using all this time to make the right decision, i.e. admit me
  4. Hahaha I love that you cite my favourite part! I would *definitely* do the fork in the garbage disposal if I got Harvard!
  5. I am still hoping for some news today
  6. Now that's the spirit... And while you're on it, dont forget practicising the "yes dance" so you're prepared when you get yout top choice... haha But "don't yes too hard"...
  7. Yes... thank God I have an office to myself...
  8. Yup. Don't worry too much yet! I know it's hard... but things might work out fine in the end, and then you wasted all this time for nothing. You are still waiting to hear from lots of places...
  9. I think I have to do one of my application decision rain dances again! It would be so great to hear from Princeton today!
  10. I think it depends on when you applied. I know they were already making some decisions in November, even though they don't have rolling admissions. I know that I'm in for the MPhil IR, though unofficially.
  11. Hahaha yeah.... though status updating could mean rejection, too
  12. Maybe they are updating my status... eek
  13. Columbia applicants... can you still access you application status form? I can't, I get error messages anytime I try.
  14. Hey... I know it's hard to distract oneself (I am failing myself most of the time), but try to remember that the process is unpredictable. Many excellent people get rejected from their "safety schools", but end up going to their top choice. It happens all the time. I went to Oxford as an undergrad but got rejected by my backup university, which you probably wont even have heard of (not that I cared...) There is nothing we can do at this point, but wait. I am sure your efforts will be rewarded. I keep my fingers crossed for you
  15. The only places I would consider choosing over Stanford are Princeton and Harvard, I think. I don't think I would be a good match for Yale. I am even thinking about withdrawing my application. Have you got any further in your decision making process? I have been bombarded with Stanford emails from students and professors. They seem quite enthusiastic, which is a good feeling.
  16. I have heard absolutely *nothing* since I got Stanford. I am hoping this will finally change this week... Even the thought that Harvard and Princeton decisions might come out in the next couple of days makes me shiver... it's going to be a loooooong and painful ride now..
  17. Thank you... good luck to you too!
  18. Oh really? Is there a pol sci thread too? Now that's certainly something worth exploring...
  19. Hahaha that's amazing.. you actually had a look Office hours on the East Coast start soon... Please... give me some news. Not another weekend of silence...
  20. Hahaha that is slightly worrying and also a little embarrassing.... Do you think our stressing out is disproportionate compared to other disciplines? I'd offer to have a look, but I worry that this will open a whole new set of time wasting opportunities. And yes, I'm at work right now.
  21. I really hope I will have some results to share soon...
  22. Let me just add that the person admitted it after I almost suffered a heart attack and he/she was starting to feel guilty as a result. (Slightly depressing that I know the entire thread, but hey... ) So I think there are two strategies available to us: 1) dont react at all 2) react in a way that warrants the suspicion that a medical emergency is right around the corner
  23. I am sure the Princeton notifications are fake. Maybe we should just stop reacting to the results page. Taking it as seriously as we have done will only lead to more and more bluffs. There is obviously someone who gets pleasure out of our terror. I think we shouldn't do him/her/them the favour.
  24. I said this before, but for Stanford it was 28/400.
  25. I agree. It is unlikely that none of us have heard, given how many people applied to these places. I will not even look at the results page anymore. If it's not in this thread, it's not real. (how philosophical...) Sooooo.... hopefully more news today. I am getting tired of waiting.
