Yay! Congrats! You really can't go by dates and think you won't be accepted if you don't hear by a certain point. I got an acceptance shortly after you originally posted too, and I had been giving up hope before I heard. I guess all you can do is keep waiting until you hear from everywhere.

I applied to the somewhat related Neuroscience program and haven't heard anything at all. I know they had an interview weekend (at least for neuroscience) and I know that someone's been waitlisted for the program. So they've obviously made some type of decision. Maybe they're just slow all around at notifying people.

Thanks guys! I got into the Social/Personality Psyc program at Texas!!!

Well, I just got an acceptance email! I just can't believe it.. I'm shaking. I had convinced myself that I wasn't going to get in anywhere and it's to one of my top schools. Good luck to everyone else! I hope all of your dreams will come true!

Congratulations! See, this thread, gives me hope! Even if it's not your first choice, at least it should give you hope that you're wanted and worthy for a PhD in what you want to do. Good luck with your decision! I really love coming in here to see people getting their acceptance!

I keep on thinking of everyone in here. I'm wishing for the best for everyone and that the acceptance letter is on its way. Don't give up yet!

Well, I finally broke down and contacted my POI after not hearing anything at all. It sounds like I'm essentially waitlisted, but they may not have an official waitlist (I haven't been accepted, but I haven't been denied yet, whereas others have). So if anyone has been accepted to Florida and does not want to go, please let them know whenever possible.

Haha.. that's how I feel too. Some days are much more optimistic than others. The main reason I'm not too optimistic about my others schools is because I know acceptances/interviews have gone out already. And for the schools I interviewed at, there are funding issues. I just want it to be done with too, but it seems to be dragging on forever.

Just keep studying, and I'm sure you'll be able to raise that. I took a practice Kaplan test without studying or anything and that's about what I got on my first practice test. I dedicated the summer (along with a part-time internship) to studying, and I was able to raise my score to a 1210. Math is really important in psychology, so if that's your weakness try to work really hard on that (and if possible, take a class or get a tutor). You are going to need to raise the score, even if you're going for a masters. Generally, (at least what my psyc grad school prep teacher told me) to get into a Psyc masters program, you have to have at least a 1000 GRE score. Don't give up with studying for the GRE! It takes a lot of time and dedication, but if you're able to put in that time, you'll see a raise in your score and a better chance of getting in.

I haven't gotten in anywhere, and I'm losing hope with each day. I still have 5 schools that I haven't quite heard from, but I'm not too optimistic. Who knows.. I guess it's not time to give up hope until getting the official word. Good luck!

Did you try checking in the results to see if people have heard from the program yet? I don't think it's a necessary no if people have, but it'll at least give you a better idea. I think some schools send out replies a little later, but who knows. You can try calling or emailing if you really want to know, but they should eventually give you an answer... hopefully.

Congrats on getting in! I heard that they were supposed to meet and decide on Tuesday (I'm pretty sure for all sub-sections), so I'm thinking at this point that I didn't get in. Still, it's good to hear from someone who did.. thanks for letting me know!

To the person who got accepted to Florida, would you mind telling me your POI? Feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what happened to my brother. He actually never heard back from the graduate school at the undergraduate institution that he was attending. But he had already received an offer from an Ivy league school that he wasn't going to refuse, so it didn't matter anyway. If you don't hear though, don't hesitate to ask. You paid the application fee and spent the time going through the application process, you deserve an answer one way or the other.

Oh, I know. I get way too many emails every day when at this point all I really care about is grad school updates. Every time I get an email I jump up, hoping that it's something, but it hasn't been any great news for awhile.

That's interesting (and good) to hear! I'm interested in animal behavior and since there aren't too many schools specifically looking at animal behavior, I've been applying to various different programs in psychology. I applied to one neuroscience program that I haven't heard back from, but I've been thinking it's because I don't have a lot of the requirements needed for neuroscience programs. It's so difficult when you fit in an area that isn't quite a definited psychological area, but it's good to hear that you've been hearing back and finding programs that fit you!

Thanks for all of that information! It's good to hear anything at all. From what I've seen the program looks really good there and of course I've heard great things about the school in general. If I get in, don't be surprised if you get a PM.

I applied for the behavior analysis program. Do you know anything about that program there? Thanks.

That is a really inspiring story and something that was great to hear! Thank you for sharing, LadyL, and congrats on getting in! I worry about my chances all the time, but not getting in isn't the end of the world and I can always try again. It's nice to hear that it's worked out for someone. Thanks!

Has anyone heard anything from Florida yet? I'm really anxiously awaiting news from them, and I hope acceptances haven't already been given out. I haven't seen much on the results search, so hopefully they haven't decided yet.

My method actually was somewhat similar to Anita, which is a nice, grueling process. It was difficult for me because I'm interested in animal behavior and there really isn't a set animal behavior program anywhere. I googled and found some animal behavior programs (and a very huge listing of graduate schools on the AB website), but mostly realized I had to be looking for biopsyc programs, so I searched any biopsyc program I could find and looked at the faculty research interests. I noted those names down, starting last winter/early spring probably. I began to realize that faculty could be in any program though, so I really had to look at everyone. I started looking through research as well at that point and noted any faculty with research I was interested in and went right to that school's site. Unfortunately, much of the research I'm really interested in is being conducted out of the country. I started contacting POIs in the summer, probably in July. I think the last one I contacted was in September and by then I had narrowed my over 30 schools down to 10. I still think I missed some. Good luck in your search. Excell spreadsheets are very helpful!

People keep on asking me this, but I really don't know. My schools are really tough to get into, and I'd be so happy to get accepted anywhere. If I end up having more than one choice, I'm going to have a really difficult time deciding.

This snow storm is killing me. Luckily, it's not as bad where I am, so we had school yesterday, but it's closed today and it was closed on Monday. At least I have a take home test due tomorrow, so that I have something to do other than waiting to hear back. I've had enough snow for awhile now, thank you.

Yeah, I'm waiting to hear from UC Davis too and haven't seen much. From the results search, it looks like there's an interview weekend 3/1 for the social program. Haven't seen anything for psychobiology, which is what I applied to.

I'll probably try to reapply again next year. If I got flat out rejections from all 9 of my schools, I was planning just to give it up and try to find some type of job similar to my interests. Now that I know I have a chance for at least two schools, I'd definitely give it a try again if none of this works out. I'd probably spend the next year getting some more research experience and retaking the GRE. Hopefully I'll get in though, so I don't even have to worry about it, but I'm already starting to look at jobs to apply to.
