  1. @lemma no I did not . My high school was in a tiny little town with no exposure. My math competitive exams were mostly local to the state :-( do you think I can salvage my application with mGRE scores ?
  2. @StatHopeful thanks a ton for the reply! I’m just seeing that there are a lot of Stat applicants on here I guess I’m going to go ahead and just count on my subject GRE carrying me through. Heading over to mathematicsgre now .. Good luck for your admission
  3. Hi! Starting a new thread just in case. I have a bachelors in ECE from an international university, a Masters from UCSD in Signal and Image Processing and been working in the industry for close to 7-8 years in Video Compression and more recently in 3D Computer Vision. I want to apply for a PhD in AMATH(Applied Math) starting Fall 2019(mostly). I am aware that I need to take the GRE Math Subject Exam and the General GRE as well. I do not have any research papers so far. I did lots of high school math competitive exams(dont think they count anymore). I am only hoping to do well in Math Subject test to prove myself. How realistic are my chances of a PhD Admit in AMATH? Will my work experience cost me a lot? Anyone else in the same boat?
  4. Thanks for doing this, @cyberwulf ! When applying to a AMATH department for PhD, is it considered a negative if the applicant is from an engineering background(like EE or CS) and has several years work experience in a EE field? Can the application be made stronger if the Subject GRE scores are good? Is Subject GRE a good indication that the applicant can handle certain Math undergrad courses well? I understand that the Subject GRE is not heavy on the proof-and-theorem side, but it counts for something right? Thanks in advance.
  5. I'll be heading to UCSD fall 2010, ECE department, Masters.

Mailing profs may help, but I didn't hear back from any profs whom I contacted.

  7. Hello people! I have an admit from UCSD, which I have deferred to Fall 2010. M.S in ECE(Signal and Image processing). Any of you in same boat? And when do we contact profs reg. research projects and funding?
  8. Hey there! Saw that you have a funded admit from UCSD! Could you post your profile here? And, how do we contact profs regarding funding?

  9. I'm just waiting for my UCSB decision to be told...
