  1. @feelthebern16 Neither have I, it's so irritating!
  2. They told me the same thing and now it's the 13th, and still no decision. It's pretty frustrating. I already accepted an offer elsewhere because I'm 99% sure UCSB will reject me (I wasn't invited to the visitors weekend & there's been zero contact from them), but I just don't see why they wouldn't tell that to me!
  3. @lotte-laserstein and @bosie_dearest Lovely of them - thanks for the info!
  4. Has anyone heard back from UCSB yet? I saw someone had been invited to the prospective weekend, so I'm not holding out much hope for it; I'm just getting anxious to accept the offer I have! Thanks.
  5. Congrats to all these UT Austin admits! Can anyone tell me if your MyStatus has been updated yet?
  6. Hello! I will (probably) be attending UCR for an Art History MA in the fall. Very excited, also slightly clueless.
  7. Thank you both! I've decided to submit the anthro one with the applications that don't specify papers of art historical nature.
  8. UC Santa Cruz also has a visual studies PhD and their history of consciousness PhD looks interesting.
  9. I'm applying to programs in Art History this season with my undergraduate majors being Art History/Visual Culture and Anthropology. Most of the programs ask for 20-30 page writing samples and many of them say that it's acceptable to submit two smaller length papers to reach this. The strongest example of my research skills is a paper I wrote for Anthropology. However, it still relates to what I want to focus on in grad school (it was written for a feminist anthro course and my intended research will deal heavily with feminist theory). It is about 17 pages, including citations, and I was planning on submitting it with an 11-page art historical paper that is also research driven and contains a good amount of visual analysis. These samples demonstrate the best of my abilities, but I'm still a bit wary about most of it being in another field. My SOP stresses my interest in cross-disciplinary research and the programs I'm applying to value that, so maybe it will be alright?
  10. Hello! As of now, I'm applying to 5-6 programs, 4 PhD and probably 2 MA. Almost all of them are on the west coast. I'm interested in the development of modern art in Europe and America, particularly women artists and visual/material culture. Interdisciplinarity is also important to me, as I was a double major with anthropology in undergrad.
