Never mind! I just was contacted to do a zoom interview with Juilliard. Sending positive vibes to everyone here who applied.

Hey all I just wanted to chime in and say I was a finalist at Juilliard the last two years and they did not do interviews. Not sure if that was a pandemic choice or if it’s a permanent decision. So I wouldn’t necessarily expect that they’ll do interviews this year. I’ll let you know if I hear more.

Hey all. I’m a current student at Ohio. To answer the financial question. Every OU student gets tuition remition. And most students get a teaching position with a stipend. If this is something you care about, let Charles know in your interview. I was upfront with him that I wouldn’t go to OU without a full stipend and while a gamble, it worked out for me. And he always makes sure that whatever offer you got your first year does not decrease while you’re there. Hope that helps. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Thanks everyone! Congrats @TalkingChickpea on finding the right program for you!

Hey all. I just wanted to let you know that I have officially accepted my offer at Ohio University. I'm so excited to be going. Thank you everyone for your support.
-
I don't know about any scholarships. Maybe reach out to current students and see how they are managing? Good luck!

@SeaLou I just got off the phone with Charles. One person declined their offer. I hope this means good news for you! Keep me updated with what happens.

Congrats @N578 on your Yale acceptance!

Hey @SeaLou Charles did offer me a spot. He couldn't speak to funding yet but said that he would know later this week. He also said that he would know if the other students he offered admission to were accepting later this week. @faro555 from my talks with Ohio this is very typical practice at state schools since funding is subject to change due to government funding. I think the best thing you can do is talk to current students and see if their funding has remained constant. And/or ask UCLA if anyone has gotten X funding one year and not the next. They should be honest with you.

Hey @SeaLou I e-mailed Art at Iowa and got this response today: We receive a large pool of applications and can offer admission to a very small fraction of the pool. We have made offers of admission to three candidates. The process is highly competitive and unfortunately must exclude a number of talented and accomplished candidates. Also I know that Ohio has offered to 2 students already. I have a phone call with Charles today. Not sure that I will get the 3rd offer but I feel really good about it after my visit over the weekend. That being said, I know that neither of the other 2 offers had accepted as of yesterday. It's possible something has shifted since then. Best of luck! I would love it if we could be classmates there.

Anyone have any info on hunter? The deadline was a month earlier this year so I wonder if they will notify earlier this year.

Thanks! I'm visiting this weekend. I hope I walk away from it feeling exactly how you did about Rutgers.
-
Yay, so happy for you @TalkingChickpea. Congrats!

@Pugs I have to respectfully disagree. If @TalkingChickpea is planning on living in Brooklyn then I think they will still have access to nyc connections. For me the nyu name is not worth tens of thousands of dollars. But that's based on my financial situation. Obviously everyone has different needs and priorities.

Hi @writr at this moment I'm only considering Ohio. I decided not to apply to nyu or Rutgers due to financial concerns. @TalkingChickpea That's a tough choice. my two cents is that if you feel you will be happier at Rutgers you should take that without worrying about reputation. What matters is which program you think will help you reach your potential as a writer. My guess is that if you did get into nyu you would be paying much more than 13k a year. So if Rutgers feels like a good fit, i think you should go for it!
