So I got an email letting me know with a questionnaire I'm currently working on. They are sending a FedEx box with more details "in a few days." Yeah, this kind of rounds out all my programs. And hey, a 50% interview rate isn't bad.
-
AHHHHHH I can't wait to see you there! Hopefully they'll get back quickly with the weekend assignments so I can book the flights.
-
I'm so excited! I'm pretty sure their FedEx box with all the info in it will show up when I'm in Nashville, but AAAAAAH

I JUST GOT AN INVITE TO ROCKEFELLER
-
Fixed it. I don't know why that was so hard.
-
YES. I think booties are probably preferable to heels! I'm wearing loafer things (see below) on interview day and flat ankle boots every other time. And my handbag is more of a tote. I'll show you below as well! (Although the one I found isn't the same one. Mine is dark blue and more neutral) UMMMM some internet monster ate my pictures. Sorry. OMG WHY IS THIS HARD.
-
LOL I'm sure my boyfriend can feel you. I was packing and he asked what I was wearing... He thought I could just answer "A suit" or "some khakis" but alas womanhood is cruel. And yeah, those knit pants sound about right! You could wear colored khakis or chinos to the same effect and not have to wear jeans. That would be good for "casual" I think.
-
If it helps, I'm going to wear a knit jacket (one that looks like it's sort of leather-y) with a knit shirt that has a little scarf attached. Then black knit pants (soooo comfortable) that look like trousers but not so fancy with my grey strappy boots (like combat boot type things). Women's clothes are hard to describe and sorry if this makes no sense.

In Iowa yesterday it was -20 with windchill. If anyone is interviewing in the Midwest, a scarf, hat, and gloves are a MUST. Also shoes that can walk on ice and snow would be a good idea, as it can get icy here and no one wants to fall on their butt. I would say Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin can get this cold. More south you'll get more ice, but not the polar vortex. (Can anyone guess why I didn't apply to Iowa State or UofIowa? :P)

Oh, I didn't know that the break would even be a possibility! I'll have to check wherever I go. Thank you!

THIS. We were talking about getting engaged right between semesters the first year. However, my partner won't be able to take more than like 2 days off because it will be a new job, so it'll be a small honeymoon. We were thinking about getting married on like a Friday and being back at work on Tuesday or Wednesday. From what I've heard, it depends on the lab, but I think you get time off. EDIT: This is why I don't do 2 things at once. My partner and I want to get married between the first two semesters. Geez why am I so incapable right now.

It's Rockefeller week, so I'm going to ask that anyone who hears back from them post either on here or on the results survey, please, for the sanity of all the others. (Just a side note, it is so nice that they promise ALL notifications this week, unlike other schools that leave rejections up in the air!)

Oh I had a question for interviewing I just remembered. Do the women on here who have interviewed usually carry some sort of bag with them? I have a padfolio thing but I don't know where I'll put any of my stuff otherwise. I was thinking about bringing my leather backpack (does anybody remember the one Princess Mia had in Princess diaries? It's the same deal.) but I don't really know. You know, a place to have a water bottle, your phone, a wallet, and to carry like gloves/a hat if we go outside.
-
I've got one more week. Rockefeller sends out all notifications next week.
-
Looks like Vanderbilt interview info will be out on Monday! Just got an email
-
Well I guess that maybe I was in the "hell no" pile.
-
I'm going to email Dr. bowman on Monday if I haven't heard from her. She said she would get back to us like a week before the event to let us know who we are going to interview with. I think by next Monday we should have information at latest. So excited!!!

University of Tennessee and Rockefeller. But I am not at all confident about either. Tennessee already started sending out some invites and I didn't get one yet. I think they feel that I wouldn't actually go there based off the other schools I applied to. And Rockefeller is just as selective as Harvard, UCSF, and Stanford. I'm just going to try to do my best on interviews. And hopefully get one or two offers. I'm just so jealous of the people who have like six offers
-
I'm not holding out any hope for Stanford. It would have been so nice to see it but honestly, like I said before, I'm kinda happy in a sad way. I know how expensive it is to live out there. Ugh, now I'm just nervous I won't get any actual offers out of my three interviews.
-
What??? That was my second choice program. I mean, I'm probably not getting it but still.
-
Immunology. I figured micro and immunology was finished.
-
She asked for my last name and checked without me asking. I was super surprised, honestly.
-
Just submitted. It hasn't changed when I checked it a few days ago. Edit: I just checked it and it still just says submitted.
-
No, they've been super understanding. And if you get your answer, then they can't change it! Also, you could say that you emailed but you didn't want to clog up their responses. Especially if you didn't directly email the home program, they'll probably never know
-
That's why I called Stanford! I just wanted to know. Also, on the interview invite for UW said they only have 30 spots to interview, so it's worth calling!
