  1. anyone got accepted / rejected by purdue (ph.d. program)?
  2. has anyone heard from the ph.d. program in health communication from purdue? I see acceptance of the master program but nothing from the ph.d. program so far...
  3. there's already an entry of interview invite on the result page
  4. i just saw that. didn't get any news about interview at all wow... just wow, if the news is true
  5. is waiting anxiously

  6. anyone heard from ucsb and wustl social psychology yet?
  7. it's so frustrating to wait for schools to give you offer as if out of mercy. the school that i wanna get in most initially sent out offers to top 12 NOW top 18 of the whole candidate pool (out of 87 people), when they're only having 7 spots. sadly i wasn't even top 1/4. now my self esteem plunged straight to the bottom and feeling really frustrated. grrhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!
  8. If only superstitious behaviors can get us somewhere...
  9. All of the officers of the three schools said they didn't have the list or they didn't know the ranking, so I had no way of knowing where I stand. Who should I e-mail to in order to ask about the ranking? I'm afraid that it'll be bothersome if I ask them about the ranking while they've already told me they did not know. *sigh*
  10. it's painful especially when you don't know where you stand on the list
  11. Looks like you've been waitlisted but the professor really wanna take you under his wings. It's hard to say whether you can wait for an offer in the second round, but seems like Spring 2009 may be a more plausible option. If you wanna get in so badly, you can wait for it I guess... Spring admission isn't so bad, you just need to work on something else for 6 months. Good luck!
  12. 0/8, 3 waitlisted not proud of the result :\ My prof said it's normal to be rejected as an undergrad who haven't even finished her degree. Schools may cast doubt on the final grade and particularly my honor thesis is still in progress. I wonder if this is the case for psych students?
  13. As the website said the estimated opening for Fall 2008 is 7. So I guess they're expecting ~6 or more offered students going to other schools. The secretary said she didn't have the list of ranking that's why I have no way of knowing where I stand right now. The 2nd round of rejections and possible offers may be released after April 15, the magic date :\ *sigh*
  14. hmm the estimated opening is 7 as written on the website. I guess many apply the MA as a backup of the Ph.D. applications. If they're admitted by a Ph.D. there's no reason for the MA not to send offers to them. So I guess those who got Ph.D. offers and applied the program will receive good news from both sides. Let's hope all of the 12 successful applicants reject the offer so the top 12 on waiting list can move up
  15. oooh... so do they usually notify applicants that they are on the wait list or they wont say anything until April 15? Maybe I'm just trying to comfort myself, but the officer sounded sincere in that she explained that rejection letters have been sent and i wasn't one of them blah blah blah anyways :\ thanks for the advice
  16. I'm on waitlist for three schools, 2 Ph.D. programs and 1 masters program. I found out about being waitlisted only after inquiring about my status. The officers said they didn't have the list in hand to tell me my rank on the list. Is it normal that they do not have the list in hand, or they don't bother to tell me 'cause I'm low-ranked on the list? I wonder if there's any chance of moving up on the waitlist at all.. *sigh* Anyone sharing the same situation or know anything about it please reply :|
  17. Just got the reply from the officer and said I'm on the wait list... They've sent offers to the top 12 choices and I'm not one of them. So I guess it's not a good sign.
  18. I've sent an e-mail inquiring my application result and yet heard any response... I'm really nervous about it, since even you, StarvingStudentYeah, with very good background got turned down. Sigh...
  19. I'm sorry to hear that... Did you get the letter by postal mail or e-mail? I am an international student so it should take at least a week before the letter reaches me. The program is competitive. It's nice that you got in BC at least ) Good luck to us both.
  20. I actually applied W&M in addition to a number of Ph.D. programs. My professor was a graduate of this program and she highly recommended that to me. That's why this is the only MA that I applied to. My chance to get into those Ph.D. programs is slim as I have heard rejections back from most of the schools already. :\ Anyways, wish we both the best of luck and be classmates in W&M! (I hope they won't interview applicants, then I'd feel better about not hearing them early)
  21. good for you that you got into BC! Without any offer, W&M seems to be the only hope for me. I wonder how the program's gonna select students considering it only takes 7 out of all.. *sigh*
  22. omg the waiting is killing me i'm like checking the result page of thegradcafe every 15 minutes and hoping there's an email from w&m in my mailbox!!
  23. Yes, she did say "Decisions should be made in approximately 4 weeks". I e-mailed the officer asking if she's got my TOEFL score as well as something about the admission and possible interview session (she didn't answer on the interview part though). It was quite a bummer since I haven't got any offer and am on wait list for 2 programs :\ I went through the profiles of the current students and they all got an impressive amount of research/teaching exposures since enrolled in the program. I don't know how the program is gonna pick the 7 students outta ~100 applicants. I guess we can just cross our fingers and wish we'll get in
  24. Just heard back from the graduate admission officer She said the admission committee is currently reviewing the applications and the results will be out in 4 weeks. So... this piece of information is probably not very soothing for our been-waiting-for-too-long ache :\ In fact, given the relatively lower admission statistics and requirement for research experience, I wonder if this program is just a backup for some Ph.D. applicants. Hope for the best! 8)
  25. Wow looks like you have a good shot I am not as lucky as you are. It's stressful enough to be rejected by 5 Ph.D. programs already and haven't heard of the other 3 (including W&M). Do you know/think if they're going to interview you before any decision's made?
