    $$$

my partner has 60k in debt and she has to make around $600 a month payments! fortunately, they approved a freeze for 6 months as she works in the public sector...but obviously it's going to hurt A LOT when we have to start paying. I would wait, Claremont seems good...not great, and you can find plenty of good (or maybe even great) state schools that will help you out. plus your portfolio will be stronger next year and you'll probably get into more / "better" schools. good luck!
  2. no, but my friend got in. they've already interviewed and offered invitations to enroll. i've already crossed it off my list...sorry.
  3. it might not be 800, but i bet it's close. ( i have friends who graduated from/are current mfa students/prospective students (aka. have interviewed) so my sources are pretty reliable). also, i wouldn't rely on "ranking" to determine the amount of applications a school would receive. i'm not sure, but i'd bet usc's ranking isn't super high, but have produced pretty "hot" grads in recent years, which probably means more? sorry, i just think the "rankings" are irrelevant.
  4. the figure (800) could be wrong, but that's what i heard...i do know that there was a SIGNIFICANT increase in applicants to usc this year.
  5. interviews are pretty much done at usc. rumor has it that they received around 800 applications this year (for 8 spots?) and i think around 400 last year...wow!
  6. hey there, just an interview request at yale and hunter. rej from ucsd and bard. sounds like we should have heard from columbia, usc, ucla by now...but then again, those schools are super competitive, so no big surprise. what schools are you waiting on?
  7. just got a call from hunter today! kinda crazy since other people who applied for sculpture heard about a week ago...
  8. How things are shaking out... Yale - Interview Bard - Rejected UCSD - Rejected Still Waiting... Hunter Columbia UCLA USC

    interviews

I'm staying at the La Quinta. it's almost 2 miles from the art school, but it was also only $59. everything right by campus seemed suspect or was more that i wanted to pay.

    interviews

how did they tell you? i have an interview in the sculpture department, and trying to figure out how much competition i have...not that it really matters...everyone is going to have their "A" game.
  11. The questions seemed pretty straight forward...revolved mostly around my work. I talked with two profs, again, both were nice. If you haven't seen the facilities it might be good to see the campus just so that you know what to compare it against if you are deciding between a couple schools.
  12. yeah, i interviewed last year. unfortunately, i totally collapsed and was extremely inarticulate...it was better for me that i didn't get in! my interviewers were very pleasant and professional, although i have heard stories about interviews going awry at that school. the program has good cred and even better funding...plus it's NU!! c'mon! the only negatives to the program are the studio spaces (you'll see what i mean) and the size (only admit about five students)...other than that i would highly recommend it!!!
  13. somehow have an interview at Yale... still waiting on... *Columbia *Bard *Hunter *UCLA *USC *UCSD good luck!
