That's possible! Or maybe there's a stronger focus on the GRE too? -

I saw that on the results page too!! I still have no change in app status...not sure if that's a good thing, or if my app just hasn't been reviewed yet, and they're sending out rejections anyway... -

It wasn't too bad, thank you! I wasn't asked any academic questions, just personal/situational based questions, and it lasted 15 minutes. I felt pretty good about the interview, but with so much competition, who knows, but I hope I made a good impression -

Most of the schools I applied to actually don't do interviews. The school I attend currently for undergraduate just added mandatory interviews this past spring for their graduate program for SLP, and there was a lot of controversy because of how new it was; the process was disorganized in terms of letting applicants know with such short notice (1-2days) to come for an interview, so hopefully, it'll be a smoother process there next year. I've had job interviews before, but since tomorrow will be my first graduate school interview ever, it'll be interesting to see how it goes... -

Same! I just wish I would get more definitive decisions from the other schools. I have a graduate school interview tomorrow for another place, so I'm hoping that will go well! -

Same! If I see any changes online in my app's status, I'll definitely let you know. I'm hoping we'll know no later than Thanksgiving... -

Really?? Wow! I just checked my online portal to see if maybe I had a decision, and just wasn't emailed about it, but I still don't have a decision listed. I guess, like you said, they'll send the decisions out gradually. I thought maybe they were waiting until they reviewed all of the applications at once, and then sent out acceptances and rejections simultaneously, but I guess not. This wait and suspense is so stressful though -_-. I feel like a lot of schools have been sending out their decisions the last few days, but I'm still waiting to hear from 4/5 schools, so this wait is getting to me, haha. Maybe we'll hear from UCF sometime this week then... -

Someone posted online on another website that they received an e-mail from UCF stating that decisions will be made at the end of this month. I never received an e-mail like this, so maybe that person e-mailed to inquire about when decisions would be given out, and got that response. -

Has anyone heard anything from St. John's University or University of Rhode Island? -

I'm wondering the same thing about University of Central Florida . It seemed like last year though, they didn't start to send out decisions until mid-November.... -

My interview is November 6th at 10! & I'm really worried about it too. My school actually has a Career Resource Center, so I have an appointment there in a few minutes to discuss Grad School Interview Prep, which I'm hoping will ease my nerves. I have two midterms today, and I just found out an hour ago that I've been rejected from 1 school I applied to for the Spring, so I feel you with the struggle of concentrating on school work now...but we should be fortunate enough to just have an interview at Lehman, and every experience is a learning experience. Lehman already likes us, as they're inviting us to come for an interview, but now, we need to just learn to control our nerves, so we can see how awesome additions we would be for their program :). -

I haven't called them recently, but when I called like two or three times between July and September at different times of the day for different questions, no one ever answered the phone there. There was only one time I called and left a message that someone called me back too. There were other times I called and left messages too, and no one ever returned my phone call. I've found e-mail to be quicker for a response, personally. -

Those are really great points to consider, and I completely agree with you. I've also heard the lack of people obtaining Ph.D's in our field (to supervise clinical practicums) is another reason why graduate programs keep their sizes smaller. I know some schools have introduced accelerated/combined Bachelors/Masters for students, where GREs are not required. While I think this is a good idea too to eliminate the stress of the GRE and having to apply to different universities to hopefully obtain graduate admission, I imagine it is harder to learn all of this material at a faster rate too, with the complex nature of the material already. -

I know! & I've called the UCF Graduate Admissions office a few times, but I find it very hard to speak to someone on the phone. No matter when I call during business hours, no one answers, and even when I leave a message, I don't always get a callback, so I have to e-mail them to get a quicker response. -

Thank you! you too . I think if I don't hear anything in two weeks or so, I will call UCF just to get an update on my application status (if it's even been reviewed yet, etc). -

Agreed! Our field needs people who are hard-working, dedicated, and eager to learn practical methods, none of which the GRE really examines. It's not fair that so many people who would be great SLP's and audiologists are potentially shut out from achieving their dreams based on a standardized test. They say there's a need for more SLP's and audiologists, but how do they expect to meet this increased demand when a standardized test inhibits many people from obtaining acceptances to graduate school for further education?? -

It's so frustrating when you take the GRE multiple times, and hope all of your section scores will increase each time, but they don't. The first two times I took the GRE, I had the same writing score, but then the third/last time I took it, my writing score went down . -

It's really frustrating. I had a tutor for a few weeks too, and he said improving the verbal GRE score is naturally harder than improving the math score because of learning new vocabulary, which we often don't use in real life, etc. -

I feel like from the out-of-state schools I applied to, UCF would probably be my first choice because there are direct flights from Orlando to New York, and UCF also offers on-campus housing potentially for grad students. Probably a school in New York would be best because that's where I'm from, but I'm just hoping I get one acceptance, and take it from there! lol. I'm trying to (mentally) prepare if I do have to move out-of-state though. -

I feel like schools for the spring get a lot less applicants, but they're still competitive too, and it really depends on the other applicants' qualities too. I got an interview from CUNY Lehman (I don't know if you know a lot about CUNY in New York City, but they're very competitive because they're cheaper, and so many people apply), and I was really shocked to get an interview there because they're the most competitive place I've applied to for the Spring, and my GRE scores really weren't very high, so I was expecting a rejection automatically. I guess in that sense, it is a little less competitive depending on the school. Since I got an interview there, it's also making me question how the other schools I applied to will decide on my applications now, haha. I was also surprised at how quick I received a decision from Lehman. Another school I applied to has also started sending out acceptances, but I haven't heard anything, so I called to inquire about my application status, and was told they haven't even received it yet from the grad admissions department because they don't receive all of the applications at one time. I'm wondering if UCF does something similar? From on here, it seems like a lot of people have GRE scores similar to mine, which gives me hope for a future acceptance because I always hear how you need a perfect score to get into a grad school, but I know that's not always true. -

Agreed! I'm trying to channel my anxious energy from apps into studying for my last semester too. & I'm jealous of your verbal score because I took the GRE 3 times, and no matter how much I studied, only my math score went up; my verbal always stayed the same. -

Lol, ugh! At least almost everything inside is air conditioned in Florida though! At my college, the dorms only have air conditioning for a little bit, and then it's turned off. If we have a heaatwave randomly, we have to cope with that, so annoying, lol -

That's awesome news then that they're still reviewing. I guess they haven't decided on a second interview date for applicants then, so that's good for you! -

That's awesome, and I noticed the Aphasia class also. I've volunteered at a rehab in the Speech Therapy office, and I've witnessed many sessions where clients exhibit Aphasia, so I'm also interested in learning more about that program. It's reassuring to hear that you have enjoyed your undergraduate experience at UCF too! Also, the warmer weather in Florida is definitely a plus, as I'm from New York, and getting really tired of our colder and snowy winters . -

I feel like UCF's program is really well-rounded and practical, especially with their required courses. I'm interested in working with all age populations, not necessarily just one, so I feel like I would really learn a lot while there, and have the opportunities to work with different populations, moreso than some other grad programs.Their required classes about Feeding and Swallowing Disorders and Articulation/Phonological Disorders sound really intriguing too. What encouraged you to apply to UCF?
