Advice to international applicants: If you are interested in a public university, make sure to email DGS beforehand to clarify if the department admits international candidates blindly and funds them. Some schools would not say that directly on their website, there may be a tiny line of words in the bottom such as "international students please contact DGS/Graduate Admission office for more information" right on the funding page whereupon the very first sentence at the top of the website reads "Every admitted student receive full funding for 5 years." This usually means they don't fund international students. (For example, Berkeley, UNC)
Even if the website indicates nothing about international applicants, I would suggest contact DGS of a public university before you apply to make sure that they mix international students in the pool and fund blindly

I spoke too soon: I'm in the waiting game: I just got a very kind email informing me that I'm on the waitlist, and I fell off my chair. I'm unspeakably relieved to have objective positive feedback on my app.

Got waitlisted by UIUC!! Excited because it is my first decision and I feel like I still have a chance.

I'm applying to a Canadian school this year and the unique things by far are- proving English proficiency (was able to get a letter from my alma mater stating that my language of instruction was English) and the GPA scale (Canada goes up to a 4.33?). It's worth mentioning that while a majority of writers rooms for English TV and film are in Hollywood, the next best city to be in is London. Just make sure if you decide to go you are up to date on your student visa application.

Got some good news today: I’m a finalist at Notre Dame and invited to their recruitment event in Feb. Feels good to get some positive movement so early! 
 
I’m not sure how I will handle things if I get invited to multiple in-person interviews/events though. Personal days don’t really grow on trees at a public HS…

Happy New Year!!! Congrats on getting it all done. This process can absolutely be draining. I also finished my apps over the holidays and felt so excited and simultaneously an anxious wreck.

I think it went well! Hard to know. A couple of years ago, I applied to a few Performance Studies programs (Columbia, Northwestern, Brown, Tufts, UChicago). Didn't work out for me then, for good reason. I think English/Rhetoric is more conducive to my work. In any case, I am familiar with Dr Jackson's work! Hoping this season goes well for you

so sorry to hear about the rejection! oregon state's program is just so tiny that even the top 5% of applicants are fighting tooth and nail for a waitlist spot. sending good vibes for wvu!

Hey all. Just checked the UT portal and got rejected at Michener! So check emails or the portal.

might be a little pessimistic, but i have personally been assuming that it'll be a rejection from everywhere i haven't heard from at this point. ultimately, who can really say if timelines are just later this year! but i like having concrete information to operate on, and for me personally i'd rather assume the worst based on lack of hearing anything than keep feeling stuck in waiting limbo with no clue how it'll work out. i hope everybody else is hanging in there!

Haven't heard from Brooklyn or Hunter yet! Didn't apply to Columbia so I don't think I'll be hearing from them 😅

Hey all, sorry to be the bearer of bad news - I've heard through the grapevine that Brown and UT Austin have already done their interviews, so those of us that haven't heard anything from them probably aren't going to.

Also got an interview request from Northwestern via email today which included a link to sign up for an interview slot. It looks like all interviews are taking place next week, March 1 - 3.
