  1. Oh yeah, I remember schools telling me "Oh, you could TA, but it's usually reserved for PhD students so it's not likely for you." Which sucks, because I have two years of TA experience, and I love doing it. Like @gcfc1989, I really liked all of the schools, although definitely some more than others. I have a definite list going into Monday, but I have a feeling come Monday morning, the list is going out the window and I'm gonna have to reevaluate schools all over again. That's insane. I'm thinking being invited to interviews is already a pretty exclusive club, but it's still a scary prospect. I've been trying to stay positive, but I realize it's probably going to get worse before it gets better, as the closer Monday gets the more I'll think about it! Honestly, I'm glad I have you guys to talk to on the internet about it, because all of my friends have already gotten so tired of my grad school talk.
  2. Oh wow, I thought some of the schools I applied to (namely Northwestern and UC Irvine) were expensive, but that's a whole 10k more...
  3. @gcfc1989 I have a really long reading list to go through, so I'm going to be reading lots! I do envy the people interviewing at Northwestern next Friday, at least they can focus on the interview, while its out of our hands now for the rest of us. It's definitely going to be an excruciating week, but we'll all make it through! Just remember - we all started on this journey way back in the fall, so what's one more week to wait?
  4. All my friends are posting "Got in to grad program at XYZ!" on Facebook and I'm (im)patiently waiting.
  5. @HettyFan Northwestern sent out a sample itinerary with 7 20 minute interviews spread throughout, with lunch, a wine and cheese reception, and a group activity in there. The whole thing is from 8:30 AM to 6:30 PM. Also: Got a rejection from CSU Stanislaus just now. Bummed, but hoping 5 interviews are enough for one school to like me and take me!
  6. @SuitCase I'm in the same boat as you right now! No notification
  7. @SuitCase I'm actually flying back to Maryland and driving up to New York. It's only 4 hours by car and then I'm driving to Boston after!
  8. @gc21 Did you contact them about your status? Try emailing the directors of the program? @Imores Am I going crazy or was your name Imorse before? I could have sworn that was what it was but I'm seeing it now and it's definitely not that!
  9. @SuitCase Definitely not! I'm just in the camp of always thinking that they invited me to interviews by mistake or something. I've stopped reading the grad student profiles on the program websites, because it's always like "They were a research assistant at XYZ where they published 5 papers, and they worked at a homeless shelter and a suicide hotline, and they started a non-profit where they knit tiny scarves and hats for abandoned kittens." or something like that.
  10. @SuitCase I'm already flying out to California for UC Irvine, I don't know if I can afford to/want to fly out again for another interview! Especially because I already have 5 interviews, but I'm never sure about whether that will be enough! In reality all I'm doing is getting more nervous just thinking about logistics and getting in to a school, I don't know how I'm going to be able to handle the weeks leading up to Match Day this year.
  11. Also: Did anyone else apply to CSU Stanislaus/Heard anything back yet?
  12. @HettyFan I think the scenario questions aren't really that difficult to do through a Skype interview. At least for me, it was more like answering questions for "How would you deal with a patient who just found out XYZ?" type questions.
  13. @SuitCase It was an MMI, 2 hours 30 minutes long, 4 interviewers and one break, with a tour and lunch provided. The only thing that tripped me up a little was the scenario questions, but they gave you time to think so it wasn't too big of a deal. 30 minutes passes by very quickly though, and I never ran out of things to talk about!
  14. Just finished my Pitt interview! Being my first interview, I was super stressed but now it's over.
