  1. Got my first rejection. Best of luck to the other candidates!
  2. My question is if graduate school and the university situation is just a giant middle finger to people from modest backgrounds. You come from a lower class background so you have to work part time and thus cannot take as many courses to maintain a good GPA - you are punished. Can't do an internship because you have to take summer courses or work during the summer - you are not as competitive. Have some poor courses in first year - you are punished. Scholarships don't pay for anything anymore - you are punished. Unless you are some kind of demi-god of studies, internships, and connections it is nigh impossible to get in.
  3. If you want a relatively cheap or easy way to improve on both scores, I suggest grabbing the Manhattan five pound book ($20) along with Magoosh ($100) and the ETS guide. Study hard for one to three months and you will be able to vastly improve your scores.
  4. Hi, So I'm a grad looking to apply to masters. It has been almost four years since I have been in school, and I have worked other jobs to pay back loans and such in a different city than the one I went to school for. Problematically, I have kind of dropped out of contact with most of my references. I have one definitely, but I haven't heard back from the other two, as of yet. In addition, I used to be friends with one of my references on social media, but that is no longer the case. I am wondering what my options are, or what I should do?
