  1. Has anyone else heard anything?
  2. Has anyone heard anything? Transcript requests or rejections?
  3. You should also look at Binghamton as you are interested in public archaeology!
  4. My methodology - Looking through this list thttp://chronicle.com/article/NRC-Rankings-Overview-/124703/ and going to the website of each of the top schools. Reading the faculty bio of every single person. Writing down all the institutions/persons on a spreadsheet (later included, deadlines, admissions requirements, publications I should read etc). Going through academia.edu and typing in my research interests and seeing who came up. Talking to my professors. Thinking about what researchers I liked reading as an undergrad. Talking to grad students I had worked with.
  5. What do we wear? Anthro is a very casual field but I don't want to appear slovenly. Do people dress in business-casual or just nice-casual...? Is anyone else nervous they will visit and be told their acceptance was a mistake? hehe
  6. On the results board someone said their POI called them for archaeological arch. I know last year decisions were sent out late Feb. Fingers crossed for the both of us!!!
  7. thank you. I really appreciate your insight!!! It's hard when a school that is so well regarded in your field has such shitty funding. Archaeology <3
  8. Were any of you the person who heard from their POI at colorado? Do you mind messaging me who your POI is? I feel like im going insane!
  9. PhD program. If you are accepted without funding though, isn't there a chance you could get a TA position? or be funded years down the line. I know I should discuss this with my POI.... but insight would be amazing!
  10. What would you do if you were accepted to a program in a low cost area (think New Mexico, Iowa or Nevada) with no funding? If the program is incredible and the cost of living is low, do you go and try to get a part-time job? Do you try to tutor SATs or something along those lines that is not time consuming but can make a lot of money? Want perspective from others who also lack trust funds
  11. What do you mean having to move only a month and a half after a response? Also, why aren't people posting their subdisciplines in the results page. It is driving me insane! I guess I should assume that if they don't specify, its socio-cultural? I know there are separate admissions meetings/processes for many of the subdisciplines at the schools I have spoken to.
  12. Does anyone know current grad students at Colorado, UNM, U of Arizona, or ASU? Is it possible to get full funding at these schools? I heard that ASU offers one admit per subfield full-funding... What is the norm and is the stipend in these places livable? Any insight would be greatly appreciated
  13. I'm not positive but I have been doing some research on this as well. Tulane's website explicitly says that a combined score lower than 308 has a much lower chance of acceptance. U of Arizona says on its website that your verbal score should be around the 90th percentile
  14. I have heard verbal is weighed more as well, and luckily I did well in that! Hopefully the discrepancy doesn't look too odd in my application.
  15. I am not too concerned re: verbal. Is 155Q on the low end? How is verbal weighed vs quant?
  16. Just got my GRE scores - how much do they matter? Can anyone in a top 10 arch program tell me their scores? Just looking to see what the ballpark range is.
