  1. Anyone hear of anything out of Dayton yet? Results page says they typically have already sent out rejections, and acceptances go out in the next few days? But no word on either so far this year.
  2. There were some acceptances for practical theology/theological education programs posted in the results page--Boston University, Boston College, and Claremont...Anyone on here claiming those? I would love to ask you some questions
  3. Hi, I'm new to the grad cafe, but when I was searching around looking for people in or interested in theology I saw your post. I'm actually doing at doctorate at TST, my home college is Regis, and my specialty is medical ethics, so let me know if you'd like an insider's perspective.

  4. Hi friends, Working on SOP's for PhD programs and had a question. Common advice is to address any low GPA stuff in your statement of purpose. I have a low undergrad GPA (messed around first two years), but will end my MA with somewhere above a 3.90. Should I still attempt to explain the undergrad low GPA or just let MA GPA, GRE, etc. speak for itself?
  5. So, I was dealing with this question a couple weeks ago. I had a couple good interactions with a potential POI I would like to work with at one of my top schools, and then learned my thesis advisor had close relationships with other people within their program. Long story short, I emailed them also---I sent similar emails to them, I just left out things like "are you taking on new students for advising", but still engaged their work, etc. So far it's gone really well, and now I feel like I am (at the very least) somewhat known by a few different profs....I say go for it. Just don't ask them all to potentially advise your future dissertation or whatever.
  6. Hey Y'all.....It's about that time. I'm applying to Boston University, Boston College, Dayton, Duquesne, Loyola, Villanova, Princeton Seminary, Toronto (Trying to decide between Regis College and Emmanuel College), and McMaster University---all programs are under the umbrella of theology/ethics/bioethics...Planning on taking the GRE first part of November, I know that's later than most but majority of my schools have January/February due dates so I think timing should work out well (FINGERS CROSSED). For now, I'm emailing potential POI's and planning out an AAR trip and campus visits to meet folks, etc. I haven't actually started any aspects of my applications, I'm going to use a pieced together piece of my larger thesis for a writing sample, so that is getting worked on. But I haven't begun any parts of my statement of purpose, etc. yet...gonna get cracking in the next couple weeks after my GRE push.... Actually, after writing this I'm getting nervous I'm pretty behind :).
  7. Awesome, thanks so much for the reply!
  8. Hi friends, was just wondering if anyone knew of any good PhD. programs for someone who works through theology and disability questions?
  9. While we're on the topic, what should these emails look like? I've heard no more than a paragraph, and obviously you want to share a bit about yourself. But do you also ask the PoI questions or things to respond back to?
