  1. I saw one rejection from UPenn, but it may be from Modern US.
  2. I thought so too, but there hasn't been any indication of one.
  3. Is it too early to contact Penn? There haven't been any indication of a waitlist and decisions came out a couple of weeks ago.
  4. I'm in the same boat with Yale. I think the chances are pretty good, and from what I've heard from students in the program it is a good way to build up your application for later. I'm still waiting to hear from Penn but I'm seriously considering taking their offer if it is funded.
  5. Does gazing longingly through the window count?
  6. Alright. I'll just sit here......hoping.
  7. Anyone know what's going on with Penn? An email from the DGS implies that more people were accepted, but there are only two up on the board. Maybe it's by field?

    Plan B?

My field as actually Early Modern Europe. I'm going for the French and German, but I'll check it out for sure. It has to be funded though, as I'm already finishing up a Masters in Economics that has cost me a pretty penny.

    Plan B?

I'm thinking about taking the Masters at European and Russian studies at Yale (if I get in that is)! I don't have very much skill in languages at the moment, which is why I didn't get into programs this time around. If the offer is funded, I'll most likely take it (still waiting on Penn though). If not, I'll self study languages and try to land a job at a Community College.
  10. Congrats to the Brown admit!
  11. I wish! They are usually very late with decisions. Probably next week or the one after that.
  12. I'm intrigued by this as well. It seems like a number of acceptances already went out and even some waitlists. I've pretty much written UCLA off though.
  13. Dear Brown, .....quit playing games with my heart.
  14. Depends on the program really. The best indicator is to look on the results page and see how decisions have been made previously. As far as I know, only a small number of schools actually use snail mail.
  15. I'm feeling a whole lot better about the Yale decision the more I learn about it. It wasn't the ideal decision, but it's not as bad as I thought. Thanks!
  16. That has been me pretty much everyday!
  17. We said that last week!
  18. Someone else was offered the same deal as I was, otherwise no I haven't seen anything.
  19. I sincerely hope not! @telkanuru mentioned that the short list has already been finalized and that acceptances should be making their way around sometime this or next week. I've checked my application status twice this week just in case.
  20. Just contacted by Graduate Administrator at Yale. They would like to transfer my application to the masters program in European and Russian studies. Can't say I didn't see it coming, but still disappointed. Does anyone know why I wasn't just considered for the department's MA program?
  21. I saw a post about Yale on the thread.....
  22. They haven't, at least that's what I was told.
  23. I certainly hope so! I've basically come to the conclusion that it varies based on field. No way to tell really.
  24. We have very similar stories! I'm getting my masters degree in Economics right now and decided to switch about a month before applications were do. It was an insane month but hopefully it pays off (for the both of us)!
  25. I did indeed! I wasn't interviewed, but I spent quite a bit of time conversing with my POI during the fall and spoke with another professor (who I would be working with in the Economic History group) over the phone as well, so I'm hoping that they know my research interests well enough to not need to interview. Probably wishful thinking lol! I did notice that a lot of the interview requests for Yale (at least the ones that I saw) were for the American field. I don't know what Early Modern is doing.
