Re: UCLA, if you haven't received a phone call, I wouldn't lose hope, since I was told it's a rolling admissions system - not exactly sure what that means, but it might mean that they haven't notified waitlisted folks, and will just accept them later on depending on what happens with their first round of accepted people.

Having come back from dinner I was treated to an excellent case in point where two responses to "yes" as an answer for "a or b" are battling it out in grand behavioural Darwinism.

Until someone we know and trust outright claims an acceptance, I'm just going to stop trusting these postings. Too easy to fake.

Harvard accept? I don't know what to believe anymore. 

So, I don't want to be all "As a logic major" but... Reads like a troll. 

I contacted Princeton: "We haven't made our decisions yet." 

So, I haven't been able to get in touch with Indiana or Brown yet, despite calling a few times. I'll try calling again later, and if that doesn't work, I'll email them. 

But, good news about Princeton. I spoke to the graduate administrator, and she said that they "haven't made their decisions yet." I think it's safe to assume that the other ones were fake. I'm not going to contact Yale because I think it's too soon, and I have no good reason to believe that the postings were real. 
I'll call Princeton & Yale back after the predicted date has past. 

And, I forgot one to add one more school to call: (10) U Chicago Committee on Social Thought. I'll edit my other post accordingly. 
Edit: Riverside is also on holiday today.

I'm still super confused that no one has claimed anything on the forums. 

I'm still hoping: in 2015, about a dozen acceptances were posted. In 2014, eight were posted. In 2013, four. 2012, about eight again. So our current three is well below what we'd expect.

Here's another option: committees reach the final list of admits one at a time in an order that doesn't track "definiteness." For instance, maybe Harvard knows they want 2 ethics people, 2 metaphysics people, and one epistemology person in their incoming cohort, and they decide on admissions for each of these areas in turn. So they decide on 2 epistemology people to accept (expecting one to turn them down), then go on to think about their ethics and metaphysics people. But before the whole process is done, the POI contacts one of those epistemology people. So here, we have a good explanation for why someone would be notified before everyone else that doesn't entail that if you haven't been contacted by now, you must be a worse candidate than that person who was notified.

I'm suspicious that it's legitimate because it is a top school and it is particularly early even for the two week earlier deadline. (I personally think that early deadlines don't mean much at all and they're mainly due to the graduate school as a whole imposing deadlines than any particular department wanting to release earlier.) So, Princeton has exclusively released in March in the past four years. 
I do think that whoever said that a particularly excited POI might contact an applicant early. I hesitate to post anything on the blog though. Note that there was a similar Harvard acceptance too. From what I understand, the Harvard accepted person was a bit reserved when telling the friend about the acceptance. Maybe it was an excited POI saying "surprise, but shhhh"

Also, just received information about Riverside. They just began reading applications last week and while I'm not sure how long the process takes I don't think it'll be even by next week.

All this talk of anonymous sources has me picturing a discreet, undercover Jac exchanging briefcases with strange people in trench coats and big hats.

I've got an anonymous source telling me that UNC will most likely not release today or even Monday because of how much work they still have for the weekend. Most likely, the source tells me, they will be done next Friday with a possibility of it being next Wednesday.
