No problem! I personally did not like the program at Mercy. The professors can be two faced and very rude. I do not feel as though I received a quality education despite the amount I paid for it. I did like how small the program was so that everyone knew each other's name. But that also means that everyone is in your business. I also did not like how the professors did not truly support their students. Their were many times that I emailed professors and my advisor in the program to meet and they could not because they were too busy. I guess that's another downfall of a small program with such few faculty members. But this is just my opinion and yours may be totally different once you start! I wish you the best of luck!

Wow thanks for the heads up. I also did not have a good experience at my undergrad (Iona) but some people loved it.. I guess not everyone is gonna love a program. Luckily it's only 2 years so I'll be in and out. Did you end up applying to mercy for your masters or did you look at other schools? Also, what's your gpa? Mine was a 3.1 so if I can get in you def can!

I did my undergrad at Mercy so let me know if you have any questions :)

Ah that's so sweet! How did you like their undergrad program? I thought the professors seemed nice and super approachable. What did you like best about mercy/ what was your least favorite aspect? Any advice is appreciated :)

Do you mind me asking what programs you applied to? My GPA is not far off from yours, and my situation as of year 2 is exactly the same.

I got into mercy college, Molloy college, and new paltz. All in ny. You just have to do a ton of research on what requirements colleges have for gpas and gres. I suggest going to asha Edfind to find a program that matches you. Then email and ask about your chances. It's def harder with a lower gpa but you can do it!!

Can I ask you about how you contacted and asked for letter writers to rewrite LORs?

I am waitlisted at 2 schools(rejected from all other schools), and thinking about preparing for next round. However, since I have graduated, I have no idea about how to contact and keep the relationship with letter writers. :(

I feel ya. I've been out of school for 2 years now. I wanted to keep 2 academic letters since most schools prefer that, so I wrote a letter to my previous 2 LORs and said why I want to continue school and what I have to offer and asked them to please write me another letter. And the 3rd letter came from my current job. I definitely recommend reaching out early, and maybe even meeting with them beforehand to just refresh them on what you've been up to. Most professors expect to write LORs so it's not a bother to them even if you've graduated

Really so happy for you! And I really appreciate you posting your experience on threads like these. Gives me hope :) This is my second cycle applying, and my first cycle all I got was rejections and a super-vague, kind-of-waitlist but not really from my alma matter. I was absolutely crushed. But I beefed up my experience and landed three waitlists this cycle. And if rejection comes, I think I'll be okay with it. I'll just have to put in a lot more work and start even earlier on apps and hope that Fall 2017 is my cycle if I don't hear back about waitlists in the next few weeks.

My first year I got all rejections, second year 2 wait lists, and finally got in the 3rd time! But thank you! :) I just wanted to share because I know how frustrating it can be and how much you wanna say screw it and give up. But you can totally do it! I got into 3 schools with a 3.1 so if I can do it you can too! And I really hope those wait lists turn into acceptances for you. Maybe you can email and express your continued interest in their program and maybe that will give you a leg up!

  6. Hey guys, I just wanted to say don't give up! This was my third time applying and I finally got in! I actually got accepted to 3 schools. If this is something you truly want then keep at it. Improve your app by getting volunteer experience, rewrite that SOP, and reconnect with those LOR. It's totally possible to do if you put your heart into it! I wish you guys the best in the future. I know it's hard not getting accepted (I've been there) but be positive and don't feel like a failure because you're not! So so so many people get rejected before accepted :)

I have my first and only interview coming up next week and I'm so nervous! Does anyone have any tips on what to prepare for?

My best advice is to prepare yourself for any questions they might ask. I first wrote out my answers then practiced a whole bunch! Although I didn't have the exact same questions as the ones I was practicing it def helped me to be able to respond quickly and efficiently. Make sure you know what you want to say, and how you want to come across. I think most schools are looking for intelligent/friendly people! Good luck

Yeah I got a rejection letter in the mail yesterday. Not sure if my file was reviewed 100% cause initially they lost one of my transcripts and were going to withdraw my application but then they found my transcript the day after the deadline (I had applied like two months earlier) and said it would all be fine.

Just got my rejection email too :( I have 3 schools left to her from too. I hope we get in!!!

Ugh that's super frustrating! Hopefully we hear positive news from Loyola tomorrow though! Just one acceptance would make me feel so much better. I feel like I need a vacation after this process lol

Does anyone have opinions on Syracuse? I was accepted and I don't know if I should stay in California or move to Syracuse.

I did my undergrad at Syracuse. The gebbie clinic is huge and unlike what I have seen at most schools who just have one or two treatment rooms. The program in undergrad was really good, but the teachers aren't the friendliest bunch. I personally hated the weather it was always sooo cold and windy so that will be a change from Cali. And being so far upstate with not much around you is a little depressing sometimes. But there's tons to do on campus. The campus is huge and sooo beautiful! Literally a building there that looks like hogwarts lol and of course all the sporting events are so much fun and you really feel like you belong to a great school :) good luck in your decision

I haven't heard anything at all, but one person posted that they got rejected 3/15. Do you think that's real or a typo?

It's strange that there is one rejection and one interview posted... I'm not really sure what to think of it. I sent an email last week and they said we'd probably be asked to interview by Friday.. I'm glad I'm not the only one because it makes me think they're just behind in deciding. It's crazy they're interviewing so late.. But hopefully we get asked soon! I'm thinking by Monday

Still false...In the past people have been notified before April 1st.  Myself included...

I believe Tish22 was trying to be helpful and let people know what she has heard since she currently attends that school. Maybe instead of rudely dismissing her you should thank her. Many schools tell students they will know by a certain date but often notify earlier.

I did, but I haven't heard anything since the department assistant checked my transcript against the pre-reqs. I don't know for sure, but I imagine this means I'm not getting in. :(

Did they email you about a writing sample? I just did it over the weekend, but I looked at the results page and not many people have posted about it. So maybe they're doing waves? I emailed the department assistant and she said all decisions should be made by the first week of April.. So more waiting

I didn't know Loyola was emailing, they seem to have mailed in years past. That's good to know!

Yeah I got an email back in January saying they received my application and it also said everyone should know by email by March 31st. They must be changing everything to paperless because I saw that others were notified by mail in previous years. Just means I'll be checking my email 1000000 times that week
