  1. Is there anyone who has neither been rejected nor accepted from NW?
  2. Some rejections from Northwestern appeared on the survey page. My status still appears as "An admissions decision has not been rendered." I wonder if the cause of the deal of my application status is because of the software system, or if they are reviewing applications within intervals.
  3. My field is political behavior with emphasis on the Middle Eastern societies. Mostly high ranked schools have the area focus and field that I am interested in. Lower ranked schools tend to lack either area focus or field, which has made it difficult to diversify my application portfolio.
  4. It must be tough to focus on exams while waiting on decisions.. Good luck to you as well!
  5. Also good luck to those beginning the second semester of school today!
  6. According to the results page, in the past years they made all their offers once. However, they could do things differently in this year and send offers in separate periods.
  7. Thanks, so this probably means that I have been rejected from Northwestern.
  8. My status also says that a decision has not been rendered. Is there any status change from those who have heard from their POI?
  9. My scores were 158V-162Q-5W, and I asked the professors that I knew from the top 10 schools whether they would advice me to retake the test. One said that my scores were good enough for the committee to review my application, and the other said that they review all applications regardless of the GRE scores. Both said that my scores were sufficient and they saw no reason for me to devote more energy on the test instead of preparing the other parts of my application.
  10. They could indeed choose a US citizen over a foreigner with share similar qualities due to financial reasons. However I would doubt that they have a "no international student" policy. From a utilitarian perspective, I think that the unique perspectives of international students, and their knowledge about specific countries/regions add valuable intellectual diversity, which may expand the research areas and even increase the number of publications of programs. These factors alone could make the financial costs of admitting international students worthwhile.
  11. What could their rationality be for not admitting international students?
  12. Someone in the survey page said that UIUC did not even elaborate his/her application. Does anyone have any information about that case?
  13. I am also getting worried.. Having applied to 15 schools, I have zero acceptance, and one rejection so far. Some of the schools that I have applied to have released at least some of their decisions (Northwestern, UNC, Illinois, Michigan State). Although my GREs are not stellar, they are decent for an international student (V:158,Q:162,W:5). Two of my three recommendation letters are from professors who are at the top programs and who know me well. I am thinking whether I made a mistake in my SOP, but I worked on them for three months with six different professors and all of them were satisfied with it. Maybe I need a break from thinking about the applications
  14. University of Houston listed its deadline as February 15th. http://www.uh.edu/class/political-science/graduate/faq/
  15. Received a rejection letter from OSU. Congratulations to those who have been accepted.
  16. An acceptance from UNC appeared on the website. Could someone confirm it?
  17. Yes, I have applied to TAMU, but I have not heard anything yet. I have applied to both OSU and WUSTL, and they both seem to bound for rejections. Not a great way to start the cycle, but all that matters is one acceptance at the end!
  18. Hey BFB, Thanks for taking your time for responding to our questions. Given that some applicants received their acceptances from OSU, does "Pending" in an application status mean that the application has been rejected? Thanks.
  19. Congratulations to those who have been accepted to OSU. My status still appears as pending.
  20. You definitely stand a chance, but as it is the case with many qualified applications like you, your fit with the program may become the determining factor. good luck!
  21. Congratulations!
  22. I am in a similar situation like yours, but I think that it is too early to begin worrying about the process. Given your enthusiasm, I would be surprised if you did not make a successful cycle.
  23. Based on the survey page, it seems like some applicants began receiving interview requests from the OSU.
