I think @AAAAAAAA is right and very reassuring as well! I guess we can't really predict anyone's chances as even what seems like a great profile may be rejected in favour of a less shiny one (like the example I shared earlier in the thread). It is all up to the admission committee so I say we all just wait and hope for the best. As an optimist, I think we will all make it!!

I am really confused as to where I stand now. I did a combined BA in Arts and an LLB which is a 5 year course. I studied 64 subjects over ten semesters and my overall GPA is about 3.3. However, this includes subjects like company law, property law etc. I opted for the international law concentration which included Public International Law, Humanitarian Law, Refugee Law, International Criminal law, Human Rights Law, Comparative constitutional law etc and scored A's in almost all the 15 relevant courses with an average of about 3.5-3.6... so I have no idea where I stand. The comment about 3.2 being low scared me. I hope they take into consideration that the subjects that dragged my gpa down are really not so relevant.

I'm confused lol. My institute followed a 4 point GPA system so I don't know how they calculate either. I guess we'll cross that bridge if and when we get to it.

@taeyeon I didn't contact any of the professors for the same reason. I felt it would make me seem like a suck up. I would've loved to have attended the live chat session though, was unable to as I was stuck in a no internet zone at that point. What did you discuss? Was there anything particularly pertinent that came up that we may be interested in?

@taeyeon I do that too. I am pretty sure I could recite the sections of the form by heart at this point. Looks like we will be waiting for another month. I don't know if my nerves can take this much longer!

My documents have disappeared however my recommendations are still there. I'm totally nervous now lol. Does that mean that they are processing my application last? As all of your reco's seem to have disappeared as well haha. I hope they tell us soon too! All the best guys! I really hope it's positive for all of us and we get in with scholarship. Also, I think they will expect us to pay the 1000 anyway. That's what my friend who got in last year said! It is pretty reckless, I agree

You seem really resourceful! Since I am from India this is sort of like good news for me as our currency converted is hardly anything in Geneva or Europe! Thanks for sharing!

Nope! I have only applied to IHEID for their interdisciplinary masters as it's the only institute that offers very specific courses I was looking for! How many institutes are you applying to? What is your first preference?

Hi! Yay! I am so glad this thread has become active!! That motivation letter was pretty amazing although obviously, unless you are someone who has happened to go through similar life experiences, it isn't possible to have a letter of motivation that is as moving as hers. The good part is that if we do make it through we get to meet people from such diverse backgrounds (I hope I make it!!!) I also thought my letter was great initially however after looking at my application repeatedly, I suddenly feel as if it's the worst motivation letter ever written haha. I guess applications like this tend to make us all second guess ourselves. @shirley_xie all the best for your last semester! :)

Hey! Why aren't you applying for the MIA at IHEID instead ? Considering the other options you have are all International Affairs related? And yes, I think the hierarchy thing must be true for UK as it definitely works that way in India and our system is very heavily influenced by them due to the colonial influence etc! Although I have a friend studying at IHEID and she said it was different there so I applied there this year! Waiting it out!

One of the people who got rejected seems to have a really amazing profile which goes; " Very disappointing new. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I really don't understand the decision. I'm 28 from the so called "global south" middle class family. At 17, I managed to get a scholarship to study in Canada. Then in the US I went to university. I have worked/lived in 5 different countries in the Americas, worked in conflict zones, have working experience with the UN system in NY, bilingual English-Spanish, I have publications in scholarly forum that were even praised by a former UN rapporteur and several professors in US and UK universities. If the want PhDs or people with 7+ years of experience, then they should say it. Otherwise I don't know what you need to be in order to get an education here." Haha, I don't know about any of you but my profile doesn't have even half of all this. Lets hope for the best though. I hope to see all of you soon! :)

Yup!! Whew! You applied for the MIA course too, yes? I still can't move this thread! Should I start a whole new thread? Also, do you have any idea regarding; 1. How many people are accepted by the MIA class 2. Do we HAVE to wait till 15 Jan or is there a chance we may be informed of their decision before that?

Somehow the people who have supposed to recommend me haven't received the email from the institute. I was sitting here sending them panicky reminders, now I seem absolutely crazy! Is it possible it was because I did not click on the save button? They should clarify things a little bit. I just hope the emails aren't going into their junk folder or something, lol.
