  1. Congrats to all who were accepted! I'm still ripping my hair out over here. Too many page refreshes
  2. I'm sure you'll be great! If you're doing advanced standing, it may not matter as much since you're young. I just turned 26 and I studied Communication Disorders and ASL interpreting. I currently work as an employment consultant/caregiver. I'm not sure... I feel like I am probably going to be rejected. Especially since they keep their calls so vague with me
  3. Holy !!! I wish I could hear... ANYTHING! I have been..dying.
  4. Have you heard anything?! I spoke with someone about this and they flat out said, "They are just tryin to buy time". I called PSU yesterday and they said I was still in the applicant pool and it'd probably be within the week?
  5. Oh my god you called?! I was thinking about it but *sigh*
  6. I applied for the early consideration as well, haven't heard anything either. It seems that early consideration in the results section shows Feb 26-28 from what I can tell. I'm more dying... Portland state sent e-mails out saying they've made their decision... but sending it over to the graduate admissions office will take up to 3 weeks to get back (should be by Feb 12th?) I only applied to UW and PSU so I'm definitely an anxious mess.
  7. Congrats RCtheSS! I can't see your signature since I'm on mobile, top choice?
  8. I also received the "we made our decision but you'll hear about it in a few weeks" (I'm dying PSU please) As for your chances, I second what BrendenSW said... It's all about the pool. I've read a lot about how big colleges let a lot of individuals in but in the smaller programs such as PSU, it makes it much more competitive. It's really hard to gauge what they are looking for when they have people from all walks of life.
  9. Hi all, I've always enjoyed reading posts on these forums, but I've never posted myself. I'm in the process of writing my SOPs... but I've been having this lack of confidence on whether I am a strong applicant. I'm applying to UW and PSU (I live in Seattle, but I can't stray too far away). I did my AA as a high school/college student and then BS in SPHSC (communication disorders) at UW. I decided to veer paths and went into ASL interpreting. My parents are Deaf so its been a long experience with disabilities as a whole (...all of my life). Its my second language. My overall GPAs range from the 3.55-3.6. I ended up getting swept into Employment Consulting where my agency works with people with disabilities, helps place them in jobs... and I do a lot of training/job coaching. I've done 200+ hours of volunteering as an interpreter, and I've worked as a caregiver as well. So basically, I believe I am strong in some ways... but I am afraid that my direct service would pale in comparison to doing Peace Corps or even having an UG in Social Work. My main issue is that my LORs are not academic related. I was a stressful, anxious mess during my UG so I never made *amazing* connections. Also... worked on essay today so the English is hard.
