  1. Bobbo613, Here is the message I received from the director of the PT program on 4/29: "I promise to keep you inform as soon as a spot is available for you. And yes, it may happen even two weeks before the start of school..." last year this school accepted 4 people off the waitlist.....but I dont know when exactly it occurred. Well, the answer is yes, looks like I will be waiting until school starts in August! The other school which I was placed on the waitlist started their new school year already. They never sent me a rejection letter. so, I guess not all schools will kick you out of the waiting list officially........it is kind better this way, that a bloody rejection letter would do more demanage to the self-esteem. so, I kind of glad that it ended quietly. ^______^ I certainly hope that second time around would have a better chance of getting in. However, the field is so competitve now days and the applicants have increased more than 50% this year vs. previous year. The school I am still waiting had 210 people applied a year ago, now they had 360 people compete for the same 35 spots........the competion is definitely getting tougher now.
  2. I know how hard it is to wait. and it is even harder to hold on to that 1% of chance of getting in. I do agree that the chances seem to be very slim at this point of waiting for someone to change their mind the last minute. I don't know how exactly the waitlist process run. The school that waitlisted me already had a couple students dropped out nearly one month ago. but they still haven't started the reselection process. Maybe it is because that more professors are taking vacations because of summer which slows down the process. I wish I could be more of a support. but at least, you know someone else is going through it with you at the same time. I am 99% giving up, but it is that 1% kept me going. I will give myself until August, then start with Plan B whatever it might be. I wish you the best luck and hope the good news will arrive at last!!!!
  3. I haven't gotten off the waitlist yet. However, my situation is this: all the schools that put me on their waitlist claimed that their incoming class is already full which means that everyone has already accepted their offer and paid $500 tuition deposite. so, being on the waitlist in my situation is actually becomes to wait for people to change their mind the last minute that they decide not to attend even after they paid the nonrefundable $500. The director of admission told me that I could wait as long as two weeks before school starts in the late August. So, to the people out there who is still waiting like me, just keep in mind that the wait could last longer than we would hoped for. but it doesnt mean there is no chance of getting in at the end. Keep your spirit up!!!! and start to look for a job for the summer!
  4. Thanks to all that replied. ^________^ yeah, I would assume if I got accepted off the waitlist, they probably CAN'T wait to share this great news with me. by not hearing anything at this point. a waitlist letter perhaps doesn't really hold a whole lot of hope or miracle. I think I am just getting a little overdone with this whole admission process. The only good thing that I could take away from this is that admission process offers an excellent weight loss program. Starting from the day one I prepared for the GRE, getting my application paper work done, checking emails every hour since January.......I am proud to announce that I have lost nearly 10 lbs!!!! The worst case that I don't get accepted, I think I might have a better shot at becoming "The American's Next Top Model"! ^_______^ I am trying to look upon the stars, not the muddy ground. I once saw this great quote someone said on this site: "Great things happen to those whom waits." something like that.......... it sure brought some encouragements to me. Best of luck to everyone that's still waiting!!!!!
  5. Hey, I can't speak for graduate program at UC. but I was an undergraduate ME at UC. Cincinnati is known as a big industrial city. We have GE Aircraft Engines head quarters, P&G. Toyota. A lot of opportunites for an engineer graduate. I received excellent offer from GE after received my BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. so, I would say the job market is good here at Cincy.
  6. About 2 weeks ago, my top choice school told me that I have been placed on their waitlist. The letter for waitlist was ready to be send out. 2 weeks later, I still haven't received the letter yet. What's going on? I don't think I am admitted just yet. Just trying to figure out how come they didn't send me the waitlist notification as they said they would.......... can anyone help me read between the lines? Thanks a lot!
  7. I know how frustrating this is. I too am waiting on 3 schools. One school told me a week ago that I have been put on their wait list, and In the event an admitted student should cancel, the committee will meet again, then decide who gets in from the waitlist. Not sure how many members of the committee must get involved to make the wait list admission selection. but just think try to put some people into a last minute meeting is not easy. I guess it is all pending on the schools and how quickly they are capable of processing. so, if you haven't heard anything by now, don't worry too much. I don't think it is you, but rather that school takes some time to decide. I think it is common to hear the updates starting next week, sometimes even in May. I wish you all the best! get out and enjoy the beautiful weather, you have done all you can to make yourself the strong candidate. The outcome is out of your hand now. Worry will not make your life any easier. Be happy, everything will be ok. The road doesn't end here if you don't get to your top school or any other schools. I know I will try again next year if I don't get in. Best of Luck!!!
  8. wow, what a great news!!!! Congrats!!! ^_______^ Did you just receive the offer today or yesterday?
  9. Crossedfingers, this is only my opinion that I honestly don't think that exchanging emails frequently with the school that you are interested in would affect much on the outcome of your application. Of course, it can be annoying at times and the schools are generally overloaded in March anyway. I have called the school I really wanted to get in almost once per week during the entire month of March! as well as emailing the advisors perhaps a couple times during that month, although no one ever replied to my emails........I think sometimes it is important to let the school know that you do take them seriously and they are your top choice. The bottom line is if we are indeed the top candidates, the school would accept us no matter how annoying we are. hehe. I am currently waitlisted at 3 schools that I have applied for.......... I am confident that all the emails and calls I made didn't affect a bit on my status. Most schools are being very supportive that they knew how frustrated we truly are. So, no worries, you didn't leave forever lasting "crazy emailer" impression. Things will work out no matter what. Best of Luck!!!!
  10. Hey, I saw this good article on what to do with offer, no funding, waitlisted, and rejected. Hope it helps some. http://www.uni.edu/~gotera/gradapp/results.htm
  11. Hey, Guys, Has anyone heard back from Physical Therapy admission? I applied for 4 schools and have heard absolutely nothing from them by now. Since it is rolling admission, I begin to wonder whether I am out of the race.......two schools that I am particularly interested in are Washington University in St. Louis and University of Maryland Baltimore. If any of you have heard back from these schools or any other schools regarding to the PT admission, would you please let me know when you received the news, and was it through email or post mail? Does anyone know when is expected timeline to hear back admission decision for PT? is it in Feb, March, or April? Thank you so much! I wish all of you best of luck!
