  1. Anyone going to orientation??
  2. @MistyMountainHop In the state of VA , GMU is very popular, proximity is close to D.C., ton's of activities to get involved in, very city like, however Fairfax county and the surrounding cities do have it's suburban qualities. The northern va area is very populated; people are friendly and diverse. I know the admission office did tell me they were having IT issues with their system which explained the delayed responses. As far as the program itself, all MSW program's have the same criteria and guidlines to follow and abide to. Ranking according to USA News, is about in the middle of the pack, like 70?..however the program is fairly new , might of started in 04' compared to other institution's that have had a MSW since the early 60's 70's and flourished since. I have a friend in the program, he said the professor's really work with you. Hopefully, that helps
  3. I'll be starting in the Fall as a graduate student
  4. @Sketchitar ask IT they should be able to walk you through everything on how to set up your masonlive account and get your username

  7. There probably still behind smh
  8. I was told by my academic advisor the class selections would begin on 4/12..Im assuming that the latest you guys would hear something. I guess I'm going to be commuting from the PWC campus to the Fairfax campus.. Rent is a little expensive near Fairfax county
  9. Yeah I would call again, you guys plan on doing graduate housing?
  10. Regular standing 2 year track
  11. Told Syr today I am not coming will be attending GMU
  12. I was admitted 2/22 but didn't receive notification until 3/3..don't get why it took a week to let me no lol.I think they made a decision with yall but maybe havent told the admission office??..But I received noticed yesterday I pick classes 4/5...I'm assuming you should hear something really soon or their delayed with other applicants
  13. Their process of getting information is definitely belated
  14. @Sketchitar GMU has not approved all graduate students enrollment form, which is disappointing because its been 3 weeks since I accepted my enrollment. I think you will be fine with space and availability, especially with a 3.8 GPA and volunteer work in the field.
  15. I would love to be in the NJ/NY area as well . Definitely would attend Rutgers for a PH.D in msw. However, I wouldn't mind being in northern va , DC area. That is where the msw program I got into is located. Your right it does make sense to reside in a area you went to grad school at for networking purposes After doing research I don't think the name "Syracuse University " plus the cost is conducive now nor in the future. I believe work experience will thump any piece of paper with an top 50 school printed on it. I did look at how much I would be paying per year to pay-off the syr loan debt using a loan calculator. I didn't like what I saw but I did come across a mft repayment program where you would sign-on for 2 years working for a hospital, prison,or some nonprofit for X amount of year's and they will pay X percentage of your federal loan's. But there were not that many organizations across the state's offering that program, pretty selective, not all states have such an organization. Compared to msw, every state offered those programs some like Florida, NC,GA,NJ,NY offered an abundance of those programs. Then I found out, a LCSW can become a LMFT without receiving a MFT degree but a LMFT would need to receive a degree in social work to become a LCSW. I highly doubt I'm attending Syracuse. I told admissions at SYR that I'm coming, sign there enrollment paper but I recently discovered this information. I'm most likely not attending unless they offer me a graduate assistantship.
  16. @dame @Marleyyy_SAlluding to the assistantship. .I was told if you don't receive an assistantship then it is very hard to get one outside of your department. The tuition at SYR is ridiculous. Definitely having 2nd thoughts Was accepted into a MSW program instate that is 35k cheaper per year compared to SYR. What you guys think?.
  17. @Sketchitar Have you heard any news since?...My undergrad GPA is a 3.1, I submitted my GRE scores (even though I didn't have to) Q-154, V-151, Writing-4 and I work with autistic children.
  18. Got accepted into Masons MSW program!!...has anyone else??
  19. @kingslayer do you know individuals who are licensed msw and mft?
