Wow.

Also as an honorable mention: Yale is a quant powerhouse but lets you major in qualitative methods.
-
Counterintuitively, Chicago is perhaps one of the most qualitative departments in the country.
-
Yeah, wondering about the Michigan waitlist too...
-
Congrats on getting waitlisted at your top choice! I haven't been waitlisted anywhere but I did some research online in preparation for the possibility. The consensus seems to be that expressing enthusiasm and interest and seeking to connect with faculty you might be working with is a good strategy from trying to get off the list. For what its worth, I have multiple friends in top programs who pursued this approach and were successful . I actually think it falls well that the DGS would be your potential advisor as it makes it less awkward trying to connect with faculty as a waitlisted student. Also, think of it this way: you could be taken off the waitlist at almost the last minute, and if you haven't connected with profs by then, how will you evaluate the option? Just my two cents.

Yeah, not to mention the strange situation where these departments have now collected double or triple their typical fee revenue for reduced spots, with very few departments (can only think of Harvard among mine) disclosing as much in advance.
-
Congratulations!!! How were you contacted?
-
I'm starting to think we should have a thread documenting ways in which the process could be improved--even it ends up just preaching to the choir, there is catharsis in documentation. This cycle especially raises new questions about the burden the process places on applicants, such as whether collecting application fees for a 1/3 cohort is fair.

Assuming given the volume of acceptances in the forum and that it was a mass email from DGS.
-
Did anyone get waitlisted at Michigan?
-
Did anyone get officially rejected from UT Austin or are we still just assuming? My online portal says "under review."
-
Wow. Yikes.
-
I seem to have missed the survey page as well, is it separate from the results page?
-
Hi there! There is a strong consensus in the group that those were all trolls, at least by my reading.
-
Feeling the same way about Austin!
-
Congrats!!!
-
No doubt, I'm guessing next Friday as ABSOLUTE latest for Princeton based on the data.
-
you think today?
-
We've actually been chatting about this on the forum. I think the consensus is that getting rejected from a lower ranked school isn't an indication you won't get in somewhere else--so its far too soon to despair! You got this!

Chiming in to elaborate on what @timeseries was saying...Especially in a year like this, its impossible to know why some of our bright colleagues get rejected while others do not. However, it might be helpful to remain cautiously optimistic depending on your profile. Schools in 20-30 are actively looking to make sure they keep good yield rates--they don't want to be safety schools for half of their admits. Every year they probably reject a dozen or so applicants because they think those applicants will definitely be accepted at higher ranked schools. I don't know your profile specifically, but I can say having read a few people's profiles earlier and seeing them declare rejects from their "safeties", this is probably happening to some of us. tl;dr: you can get rejected from all your safeties and it may not mean much at all.

Yes, also a little suspicious that they all seem to have been posted before noon today (around when I checked). I understand that some people diligently post/follow grad cafe but I would assume some people would be logging on later in the afternoon to post their results.

Sure. I would be sure to check your updates tab if you are using gmail--a lot of these form responses seem to head there! "Your application to the Graduate School at Princeton University has been successfully submitted! To monitor if all required application materials have been submitted, please review your checklist by visiting http://gradschool.princeton.edu/view-your-checklist. To view the progress and manage your letters of recommendations, visit https://gradschool.princeton.edu/recommendation-letters for more information. All materials, test scores and letters of recommendations should be in by the deadline for fullest consideration. Please note, it can take up to 7 business days for test scores to match to your application and the checklist to be updated. If you are a currently enrolled student and your fall semester grades are not yet available, you may upload your fall semester grades through your checklist once they are available. Admission decisions will be emailed to all applicants, grouped by department, between February 1 and March 15. Thank you for applying to Princeton University's Graduate School. Sincerely, Graduate Admission Princeton University Clio Hall Princeton, NJ 08544"

Hello all, I like many am anxiously awaiting the Princeton results. While the last three years of data seems to confirm what many are saying regarding next week, I do want to point out that in the submission confirmation email I received they specifically said results would arrive "between February 1 and March 15." This could well be a case of "underpromising" though, as departments are likely free to contact admitted students at their leisure. My hunch is that we will still get results next week but I personally am trying to mentally prepare to wait an additional week because of this. Hope this two cents helps and good luck to everyone!

Any insights on whether more admits might roll in later in the day? Felt really confident about this one and my status on the site still lists pending...

Based on the numbers on GradCafe and some anecdotes, I would be surprised if they interviewed every single or even the majority of the candidates they accept, but I could be wrong.
