Hey all, I'm just looking for a place to find a few examples of successful diversity statements written for fellowships by PhD applicants. I'd prefer if the applicant was in the humanities. I usually rely upon Schwitzgebel's blog for example application materials; however, he hasn't compiled a host of example diversity statements (yet).

If you're trying to follow the footsteps of your professor (entering into a Masters program), I can attest that you are perfectly fine. I come from a no-name school with a bad cumulative GPA (albeit technically a 3.9 Phil GPA) and crap GRE scores and I got into a top 10 masters program, with 7 other funded offers from great schools.

This just isn't true. (Or supertrue.)

Lol, my poor grades this semester will reveal why I am able to read so many books. I recommend Meaning and Necessity, while I do not agree with some of its conclusions, I believe S2 typifies the standard understanding of the relations between the modalities. You should message me once you start reading it, I'd love to converse over Carnap. I haven't read Worlds, Times, and Selves yet, I had it for background to Richmond Thomason's "Indeterminist time and truth value gaps." Did you enjoy it?

Hey folks. I have committed to going to Brandeis University and would love to link up with any incoming Brandeis/Boston area folks.

Every semester I check out all the books I'm going to read in my spare time. I basically get whatever books I want, since no one uses our library. I'm almost done with this run, and would love to speak with anyone who has read any of these works, or would like to read one of these books with me. I'm probably going to read Fact, Fiction, and Forecast next.

FSU is an amazing place, I will forever be kicking myself for declining their generous offer. Just decided on Brandeis, however, it'll take some days before I'm emotionally prepared to celebrate.

Just declined Marquette (RAship + Partial Tuition Remission) and Florida State University (TAship + Full Tuition Remission). Hope this helps someone who needs it, lord knows it killed me to decline. Anyway, it's a Brandeis life for me.

Declined Kent, Toledo, Boston College, Boston University, Loyola Marymount, California State University Long Beach, and University of Florida an hour or so ago. Will be declining funded offers from Florida State University or Marquette University on Tuesday.

Is it appropriate to seek a Bphil or an Mphil after acquiring a US MA?
