  1. Def acceptance.
  2. Wait listed at Brandeis. Turn down your offers folks, yall don't really want to go to Brandeis, do you? Nah, yall wanna go do other things, like not go to Brandeis.
  3. Presuming rejection from Brandeis. It was one of my top choices. I've already been rejected two other times so far; however, for some reason this one stings a bit.
  4. Anymore info on Brandeis? I expect a rejection, but I'm also not necessarily trying to wait till the middle of March for it.
  5. In at Boston College after totally expecting a rejection.
  6. Waitlisted at Miami U. Now I gotta add a new color to my sig. #1stworldproblems
  7. Official loss, I got my first official rejection letter.
  8. Just took my first official L from GSU, it feels so weird, I'm a combination of excited and like, the cusp of being maybe disappointment, IDK, the feeling is weird, I'm almost as excited as I was for the acceptances, lol.
  9. Presuming rejections from Georgia State University, Boston College, and Miami University. Feels good to finally be in this thread for a reason.
  10. If everyone would just apply to my school of blackjack and hookers we wouldn't have to deal with these disappointments.
  11. Just sending out apologies on behalf of Tennessee and the male gender. I wish I could say we're trying to get better as a unit, but meh, IDK.
  12. Anyone claiming the Miami rejection? Do you have news to bear for the rest of us?
  13. It's my birthday today, but Brandeis hasn't gotten the message to gift me an acceptance. Can some please inform the graduate committee that this is tradition, they still have time to save face.
  14. :[ admissions can be rough. There's always next cycle though! We share interests, perhaps you can take from my list of back-up plans toward the beginning of this thread. I rarely meet other Spinozist, where did you apply?
  15. I want to solicit Boston College, how do I go about doing that?
  16. MA, I'm not a glutton for punishment.
  17. Boston Collegeeee, nooooo, yudodis.
  18. Thanks for the info! I guess now my question is: Boston College (MA) and Georgia State University, any claims?
  19. Me and my friend got tattoos one night after a few beers at the bar and talking about Euthyphro. He ironically got W.W.E.D (What would Euthyphro do) tattooed on his wrist, I non-ironically got W.W.E.D tattooed on my wrist, because I honestly believe that the proper reading of Euthyphro is of a snark but desperate Socrates pleading for life to the only person he believes can connect him to a higher power to save him, Euthyphro. However, Socrates' own narcissism and frustration gets the best of him, and in an intermediately conscious attempt at seeking redemption, Socrates pleads with Euthyphro the only way he can, the over-rationalization of the world, which he does to combat the seemingly irrational injustice taking place (which is his inevitable sentence of death.)
  20. My girlfriend just promised to buy me a synth (Jupiter 8) and a sampler (Volca Sampler) if I don't get into any schools in Boston. I'm a huge synthesis guy. Looks like rejection just got a wee bit sweeter!
  21. I can't believe I forgot Kierkegaard! The Rotation Method opened my eyes to my narcissistic pithy nihilism.
  22. Has anyone heard from Miami University?
  23. Good deal, I've been particularly interested in Thomason and Fraassen's collaborations, as well as Fraassen's relation to Everett. I'm starting to warm up to the idea that Thomason's Ockhamist tense logic model, which uses Fraassen's Supervaluations, is the way to go about describing talk about time in a MWI cosmology.
  24. I've a lot in common with you folks. I've Lewis' Counterfactuals sitting infront of me, along with Hofstadter's article "Causality and Necessity," Prior and Kit's Worlds, Times and Selves, Carnap's Meaning and Necessity, Priest's Beyond the Limits of Thought, Prior's Papers in Logic and Ethics, and Hegel's greater logic. (As well as all my Spinoza books, for quick reference.) I'm working on a paper concerning the rigorous definition of nomological possibility if we presuppose MWI, and the identicality of logical and MWI Hilbert Spaces. However, my technical training is in continental philosophy, specifically Spinoza and Existential Marxism, and those are the programs I applied to. However, I love logic, philosophy of science, and mind. My favorite philosopher is a dead heat between Spinoza, Plato, and Hegel. I'm most comfortable speaking of Spinoza as I've spent the most time with Spinoza's original texts, as well as a plethora of secondary literature. However, I had a pretty far out Plato teacher, and I loved how far he'd push Plato's interpretive scope, especially concerning socio-political issues and existentialist themes. My love for Hegel is absolute, and cannot be explained (in under 1,000,000 words).
