Just as an update, I was officially admitted to UT Austin and the University of Michigan this past weekend, all for solid-state electronics/nanotechnology. Good luck, everyone!

Got an informal email from a professor up at Ann Arbor saying that I have been accepted and will receive the formal admission letter and financial aid offer in the next couple of days. This is for EE PhD Fall 2016. I applied to twelve schools and this is the first response.
