  1. Does anyone know anything about this school? I've heard it's a larger program, is that true?
  2. Thank you this is a big help! I've gone through San Diego's State website, and I did get that feeling but it's hard to be sure from only looking at their website. I think I may email and try to get a little more information. Will definitely be looking more into the other two for sure. I am very interested in aural-rehabilitation, and would probably be my next pick after trying to find somewhere ASL-friendly, however I'm going to shoot for the others first! Thanks again!
  3. Thank you so much for sharing! Yes I kind of figured that's how it was but I wanted to make sure I was not missing a school out of ignorance. Yes, haha not exactly the ideal field of study to get into to be a proponent of the Deaf community, however I do believe there is a fine line you can stand on to be an advocate for both! I definitely feel that same disconnect when hearing some of my speech path professors make some off handed remark about the Deaf community and then enter Deaf Studies and finally feel like I'm around people who understand my perspective. I'm so happy for you though! You are going to do amazing there with all of that passion. One of my close friends will be attending the Audiology program next year and she is absolutely ecstatic as well! Good to know about the personal statement! Did many of the graduate programs you applied to accept your MAT score? This is the first time I'm hearing of this test. Also do you know the tuition? And are you planning on living in the dorms or in an apartment? I think the dorms sound great as far as integrating yourself, however I have a beloved cat haha Thanks so much I really appreciate it! Hopefully I'll be making a trip to visit the clinic next fall!
  4. Thanks this definitely helps! I'm currently trying to avoid the research heavy schools because that's just not what I want, at least for this point in my life. I heavily scanned their website last night , but it's nice having a student perspective. Thanks!
  5. Does anyone know of any other grad programs that have a positive outlook on ASL (aka not the medical perspective) other than Gallaudet? Also, would any of you who know anything about Gallaudet or got accepted this round mind sharing? I'm really hoping to be accepted for Fall of 2017!
  6. Does anyone know anything about this program? The website makes the program sound very intensive, and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about it. Thanks!
  7. Something I have recently discovered about Baylor through the grad students is that Baylor is VERY child/ school centered. Many of the classes that they offer are based on language and literacy and as a grad student you will become very involved in their program, Camp Success, which revolves around language and literacy with school age children. Once in the grad program you will come to a fork in the road where you get to pick adults (medical) or children (schools), however anything out of this is not really offered (however not necessarily discouraged). A friend of mine was left a little frustrated when she realized was already in the middle of grad school and her goal to work with pediatrics in the medical field was going to be a little harder to reach. Something to think about. I'm currently not sure if I'll apply there anymore because of this new information. With everything though, ask for yourself. Probe admissions for answers. For Baylor, I do not thing rolling admissions is a thing, so the time you apply shouldn't matter. Good luck to all!
  8. I'm in the undergrad program here and it's a wonderful school. Think small classroom sizes and intimate relationships with teachers for grad program. As far as admissions go I've heard it can go back and forth. Some years it's a little bit more challenging to get in than others. It all depends on how many apply at that time. For example, I think last year there were about 200 applicants making it a little harder to get in. The program is shorter than others, about a year and a half! I wish I had more information for you! I'm trying to differentiate the bias, amazing reviews and actual rating/ comparison with others myself! However, just from my experience in undergrad, I can assure you it's a pretty great school.
