I've got an official rejection mail from the Dept. yesterday. I saw someone's posting on informal acceptance notification via phone(in the middle of last week) and formal acceptance  via phone(yesterday). Her/his subfield was exactly same as mine, and was also an  international applicant, so I emailed to the office of UT and they confirmed my rejection via email.   

I applied U of Toronto religious studies. I've heard they're gonna notify their official decision next monday. Good luck !

Before stating what I've heard from dear friend of mine, I have to be clear that Claremont's faculty is pretty nice (as you may know) 
However,  as was stated above, their financial situation is far worse than ever.  My friend said "many candidates, including myself, are facing a crushing burden of debt"
My folks (I'm also an international applicant) have repeatedly said that many candidates are competitively fighting for few T.A or R.A spots, and their fellowship/scholarship opportunities are reduced to the vanishing point. In particular if you are an international student, the chances are really against you.  
 
And one more thing, I've seen lots of profit-oriented degrees run at Claremont. I really don't want to argue about it, and I shouldn't. But definitely this is not a good sign for your degree, it can hurt your career and might depreciate years of assiduous effort and study. 

Yeah I know, but I heard some of UT subfields give some informal notification in advance to the official date.  just like what result poster have been given. So, i was wondered about poster's subfield and so on. 

Congrats! Although i didn't get any interview offer at Duke Ph.D. (modernity subfield), I'm happy for you! 
Disappointment hit me so hard, but  I guess it's time to move on

     I wouldn't give up hope, just yet. I have been told that every school does things differently, AND every department (and sub-department) does things differently. So, just because some have heard from Duke doesn't mean that Duke is out of the question for you. I wouldn't venture into the realm of building a whole decision based on one person's experiences, thus far. However, I may need to hear the same thing in the coming weeks!
