Congrats! Did they email today? I hope that means they’ll be getting back to painting applicants soon too!

I don’t know what they will do this year, but in previous years it looks like they sent out rejections along with interview requests. Hoping they do that again this year so we won’t have to wait any longer either way!

I did a little digging through previous forums and I’m thinking we may hear from Rutgers this week sometime. Last couple years it was right around the 9th or 10th of Feb - so maybe this Friday?!? Their interview day is March 1st so I can’t imagine they make us wait much longer, especially for those who will have to travel.

When I interviewed with painting they said it would be 2-4 weeks because they meet with the whole painting area to discuss candidates, and then they meet with all departments to discuss the whole cohort. So you will probably also hear back in 2-4 weeks. Hope that clears things up a bit!

I interviewed too! I wonder how many people they interviewed. It seems like they only will be taking maybe 1 or 2 people since they try to keep the cohort small.

If you had FAFSA information sent to the school then it may be related to that?

I applied to UCLA as well for painting. Expecting they will be doing their phone calls to finalists in the next couple weeks. Has anyone in painting heard from Rutgers or UC Irvine? So far I’ve had one interview with Austin and felt like it went well. They asked pretty standard questions so I’m guessing they already have an idea of who they want and this was a way to get a vibe off of people. So hard to tell though.

Can you tell us how you know this?? Do you go there or know someone who has gotten an email from them? Their apps weren’t due til 1/15 so it seems super early for them to already have emails sent out.

Haven't seen on here yet. I'm still holding out hope because usually at least one person on these boards will hear something. Also not a single area from the UCLA mfa has gotten any traction on here so I'm hoping they're behind schedule this year?

Based on previous years I'm thinking that UCLA will be contacting painters tomorrow or Tuesday for brief chit-chat phone interviews. Hoping I get one but my google analytics has been totally lacking in hits from LA so I'm starting to brace for a rejection.

Has anyone who applied to UCLA gotten any activity on their site from LA or the UCLA network?

Congrats!! The areas at UCLA all interview/notify acceptances at a different rate so I'm not sweating it if painters haven't heard yet. Hopefully you hearing from Design Media Arts means that the ball is gonna start rolling pretty soon with the rest of the MFA areas. Thanks for the heads up and good luck with your interview!!

Thanks!! I don't know what in the world is happening to me. I haven't published my website yet and I'm not quite ready to share in the cafe till maybe after a couple of interviews! To get real with ya'll... I'm a nervous wreck and could easily screw up any of these interviews. Understandable - I haven't posted my site either for the same reason. I'm sure you'll do great! Your work is obviously strong to have so many interviews at great schools lined up right out of the gate. Are you applying straight out of undergrad or did you take a few years off of school?

Do you have google analytics? If so you can see how they got to your website. If it was somebody on here clicking a link from here it will note the forum as a medium or path to your site. If it was typed directly into their browser or google searched it will note that - which may be a likelier scenario if it was somebody from Yale. Also, you can look at the service provider - if it is a person looking from the university network, it will say "Yale University" or something like that. When I applied to school last year I was obsessed with google analytics. Trying not to repeat that behavior this time around but failing supremely.

Yea I applied to UCLA...it's my top choice. Sigh. I guess we will know in a few weeks. Good luck to you!
