So I applied to seven schools for a Sociology Ph.D, and received a response from 3 of them - 1 acceptance and two rejections.  The schools I haven'the heard from, 2 are a longshot, 1 is probably done making decisions but haven'the notified me, and the last is the school I went to for my undergrad.
I'very spoken to a professor I know very well, and she told me that the funding offer I received is very, very good.  I don'the want to keep them waiting too long, but I feel guilty doing so (and part of me just wants this entire process done and over with so I can start the next part of my life).
Should I just take the offer?  Part of me feels like doing so would just be impatient of me; after all, there's no guarantee that the last four schools ARE rejections (or acceptances).  Plus, the time and money I spent applying to the last four would automatically just go down the drain.
But the offer is so very tempting... it's not my dream school, but it's definitely a fantastic program.
I don'the think i'm the only one in this situation, so anyone care to give some advice?  Maybe I just need more patience haha.

@consciouskid, to my understanding, the way the social policy admissions works is that they have to go through the social policy program first, then their top choices are then presented to the sociology/government programs to see if they'll take you too.  So it's a longer process, because they have to go through two committees for review.  Not very comforting, I know.  But at least there's a reason for the long delay.

Hi guys,. So I feel really stupid because it seems that I accidentally posted my previous questions to the acceptance/admittance board over in the History section of gradcafe (shhhh, I don't think they noticed, but they were very helpful haha).
 
In any case, I just heard back about funding from UC Davis today, so for those of you who were offered admission, you should hear back soon.
 
Also, this is probably not a surprise to anyone but I just heard back from the grad coordinator from UCI, and he told me that all first-round acceptances have been sent out in anticipation for their recruitment weekend early in March.  They'll send out more admits depending on how many responses they get back afterwards, but of course they may end up hitting their quota and start sending out rejections en masse.  So at this point, I honestly wouldn't hold my breath for any more Irvine admits, but until they officially say no, I'm not going to count it out :).

Hi!  I created an account just to reply to this thread.  I was the one who was just accepted to UC Davis! 
To answer your question, it was a personal email from someone on the admissions committee.  She said they're working on the funding still, but they wanted to let me know about their decision asap.
