  1. @Neist I hear you! Good luck at OU HoS! @Josh J. Good luck with the other schools! Good luck to everyone! I really do wish, there is more good news this week (and much much lesser bad news).
  2. @Josh J. Since I applied to Urban Planning programs (my most recent degree is in Urban Design), I am also awaiting to hear from University of Michigan (Urban Planning), Harvard GSD (planning) and MIT DUSP (City Design and Development). Oh yes, and there is Cornell STS. I am not sure when Cornell notifies. The wait seems loooooonnnnggg!
  3. I could not agree more! I am awaiting Yale (hopefully this week), Columbia (also this week, hopefully) and George Washington (does anyone know when they notify?)
  4. Has Columbia sent out acceptances?
  5. As of yesterday Yale said decisions should be sent out later this week. I am assuming (for myself) that they have sent out their acceptances already, and only the rejects shall hear later this week. Though my vain heart wants to believe that given the size of their incoming cohort (about 22 according to their website), they might be staggering acceptances and therefore I might still have a chance
  6. Heard from Yale: "Decisions should be sent out later this week" ! Halleljuah! A dateline for the bad news!
  7. @Neist I agree. It does feel extremely inefficient (to put it mildly). And yes, any news is welcome. For schools like Yale that had deadlines in December and have been sending out admits, it is a little annoying to just have silence when they have made up their minds.
  8. 16:31, no news from Yale. I am not sure why schools drag out the bad news for as long as they do. I mean if they've rejected me, they are not going to change their decision, then why not just tell me when they are also spreading the good news around? I just checked my app status, and no messages either. ugh.
  9. I bit the bullet and asked Yale about the status of my application. Strange silence :/
  10. Good luck to everyone! It does seem like this is a week where news is coming in! I am really hoping to hear from Columbia and Yale this week. Glad to see Yale admits! Congratulations to all the admits! I wonder if all the American History admits have gone out from Yale; they seem to be doing a staggered acceptance routine this year.
  11. That's a long wait! :/ I saw two Yale acceptances on the results board. I'm assuming a few more shall crop up in the days to come.
  12. Congratulations to the admits!! Yeeii! Let's hope this week is not quiet (and there is more good news)!
  13. Congratulations on getting into your first choice! Good luck to everyone, and I really hope people get into their top choices! My Columbia and Yale applications have no messages. I'm so bored of waiting for them to turn me down.
  14. Oh! dang... hang in there! Has Yale sent out any admits/rejects to the PhD program?
  15. @insidethesun like @Neist just said, I would like some news now, any news. I could not have put it better when he said, "I sure am getting bored".
  16. Aww shucks... I am hoping my bad news from Columbia comes today.
  17. Congratulations to the Davis, Wisconsin, and Harvard admits!
  18. haha You seem to be in a good position. I am sure the good news shall start coming in soon If you don't mind my asking, was your interview at Yale anthropology?
  19. @knp that is good to hear! I submitted Yale after a long semester, and a longer transatlantic flight and I was severely jetlagged. So happy for you that you got an interview with this hurried app!
  20. That sounds promising! Good luck to you! I applied to Yale quite last minute; given that my current graduate degree is in Urban Design, I was looking at urban planning and architecture PhDs. So I discovered Yale, quite late in the day. I sent a few emails to people, I heard from one of them I think but the people I really wanted to work with (who have worked on the US Canada border in the Pacific Northwest), I did not hear back. Given my specific area of interest i.e. Detroit, Yale does not have faculty who have worked on the midwest (to the best of my knowledge) for either borders, or cities. My field is American history, so no interview call probably means its a no no. lol But again, I would not be too bummed in the likelihood that I am rejected by Yale.
  21. @DGrayson haha.. did you apply to Yale too? And were interviewed?
  22. @Josh J. One of my recommenders teaches at Yale. I also spent a year at Yale as a research fellow. What struck me when I was there was how nice and approachable people are and just how much interdisciplinary work is encouraged. But I think when it comes to admissions, I was told by my faculty mentor there that, they are flooded with apps, and if Yale wants you, you'll know. If you don't hear, it means you probably haven't made the first cut. This is especially true of the anthropology department. Unfortunately I know little about the history department and how it works. @ranran I hate it too. Let's hope Columbia says something soon. I have an admit from MSU, which is a relief. The one person I know who got into Columbia a couple of years ago, heard sometime in early February. He had spent the Fall semester interacting with faculty and he was an obvious choice.
