Yes, usually in the US parents teach their kids how to drive, but there are also driving schools/teachers. You can usually just find them in the phone book. I'm not sure about the cost. Or you could just have a friend teach you.

Just got back from my NYU interview- it was a 5 minute, 2 question group interview with two other people. Nothing to be worried about at all. In case anyone was lurking and wondering

I used CSDCAS to apply to BU and I hated it. It took them forever to do anything and they kept messing things up. I had requested they send my app to BU on 1/1. They finally sent it on 2/24. I can't help but think this might have been why I was WL at BU. When I called BU to get my result and told the secretary my name she said "oh yeah, I remember you, your application was really late, right?" Of course BU claims that had no effect on its decision.

Congrats remixed! And yeah, Emerson has definitely been notifying people for a month now. I called yesterday and they said they should be finished with decisions "in the next two weeks." I got the feeling they weren't going to be sending anyone anything for at least two weeks though, which doesn't really leave anyone much time. "Luckily" for me it won't matter anyway since I have yet to be actually accepted anywhere.
-
remixed, I had to call them too. They said my letter should be there by now or within the next day or two, so even if you don't call, it should be there soon.
-
Well, now I've been waitlisted thrice. This is ridiculous.
-
I finally called BU. Waitlisted. That's 3 for 3 right now.
-
I don't think so; I had called before asking when I should expect to hear back and they just said "decisions are ongoing" so I think they probably just haven't gotten to your app yet and/or mailed you a waitlist letter. (They never updated my status online.)
-
I've been waitlisted at my top choice too, and made sure to tell them that it was my top choice, and am also going to visit. (They invited me to, I'm not just randomly going.) But I don't see how telling them you definitely want to go if given the chance could possibly be annoying. Maybe if you told them 80 times but once or maybe even twice (later on) can't hurt.

Thanks RLJedi and Emilee! I feel better knowing I'm not alone in my repetitive waitlisting.

I was waitlisted at Northwestern now too But I'm also interviewing at NYU on the 12th, at 10:15 though.

I just found out I was waitlisted yet again. I applied to 5 schools (for speech pathology) and have only heard back from two (ranked number 2 and 5 for my program), both of which have now waitlisted me. I've heard that applicants are usually only waitlisted when there isn't a "compelling" reason to admit them. I didn't major in communication disorders in undergrad, and I guess my stats aren't amazing, but this is seriously demoralizing. I won't find out anything from either of them until 4/10 at the absolute earliest, and I just...UGH. I really only wanted to go to one of the schools anyway, which I'm waitlisted at but still, I'd like to know if I'll get in and also that I'm not the most boring applicant ever.

There is still no decision on my Northwestern app

I was put on the waiting list for Vanderbilt for Fall 2010, and I'm not sure what to do to get myself off of it. I'm going down to visit in two weeks during one of their scheduled visiting times (they included a letter telling me how and when to come visit to "decide" for the fall). While I'm there I'm scheduled to meet with the Director of Graduate Studies, the Director of Clinical Education and a professor. I'm assuming they'll interview me, but other than that I'm not sure what to do to help myself! I'm not a communication disorders major right now- I'm a linguistics major (school barely even offers that major much less CD), so I haven't been able to do any kind of SLP work yet. I have been a pre-test counselor for HIV tests at my school, and I was thinking of getting my supervisor to write a letter of rec for me about that, saying I'm good with patients or something, but do you think that would help? Other than that, what should I do? And does anyone have any idea how long the waitlist is at Vanderbilt or my chances of getting in? I know they only admit around 32 people a year and only around 16 enroll...so I imagine the waitlist can't be more than like five people, right? Help! This is my absolute top choice and I'm moving to Nashville this fall anyway because my significant other is going to a master's program there this fall, so I really want to get in!
-
Well I got a letter from them today- waitlisted. But they also said they'd like me to come visit and I get the strong feeling that would help...so I'm going over my spring break. Anyone else going to be there on 3/15?

Is there anyone here who received a rejection letter from them? If so would you mind telling me where you're located (state is fine) and when the letter is dated? I haven't received anything yet and I'm trying to figure out if that means anything. Thanks!

Oh, great, thank you! This was very helpful!
-
Hahaha, that was amazing. I live in fear of the day I can't afford Natty Light.
-
I'm not really sure what to do in this case. I might still apply to one or two programs, see if I got in, and make my decision then. The worst that can happen if you get admitted is you decide to turn it down.
-
I'm worried about not having enough experience too. I'm sure you'll get into a few of the schools you applied to
-
I think getting a Master's would probably really help you. It might be worth it to apply to 1 or 2 Master's programs for the fall and see what comes of it.
-
Personally I think that it's okay to be selfish in this case- you want to make the best decision for YOU, not for them. That being said, if you can visit them earlier, it seems that would be best. Maybe visit school B before school A?
