Nope, not really.

Thanks, I need all the luck I can get. Have you, by chance, visited campus before? I haven't yet, and don't know if I'll have the time before April 15th. It's terrifying to me that I might have to make an important decision without visiting.

MAPC sounds perfect for you, then!

Hey, I'm from the Virginia Tech area! I went through a period when pretty much every school I applied to was my top pick, haha. The department chair of the English department at my undergrad school recommended that I apply to Clemson, and she pretty much said the same thing you just did. If I want to go on to the PhD, I should pick Clemson. I've also heard a lot of great things about RCID. What is it you want to do? I want to teach/get into writing center administration, and I'm not sure which school would give the best bet for me.

Congrats to you as well!

Congrats! Same here! I'm still torn between my two top schools, Clemson and USF. I seriously have no idea what I'm going to do, and I was so sure before. What sold you on the program?
-
You're welcome! Good luck! Hopefully there is good news for both of us.

Fret not, I was wrong. I got a response today. We'll get emails by March 15th, but "probably tomorrow." So we won't be waiting long!
-
It looks like Clemson's spring break is next week, so I wonder if we'll hear anything... I sure hope so.
-
I'm getting ready to send it now, so hopefully! On another note, sorry we took over your thread, @rhizomes.

I was thinking the same, but this acceptance really threw me off. I wasn't expecting it, and I was actually just about to commit to another school. This really changes things though so I might email today! Not that I would hear anything before the weekend...

That's awesome- Congrats! Have you heard anything about funding? I know in the letter it says to ask, but I really don't want to do that
-
Hey @mis-dreavus! I was accepted yesterday! Have you heard anything yet?
-
I didn't apply to RCID, but I did apply to MAPC (Masters in Professional Communication) and haven't heard anything yet.

Campus Visits

I'm SO nervous, @A blighted one! I have one coming up on Wednesday as well, and I have NO idea what to wear. I wasn't really worried about what I should wear until I was browsing the forums and saw something about business casual. I wasn't necessarily planning to go that dressy, but now I'm freaking out thinking that I need to. -
Outtakes and bloopers of an application cycle
mk-8 replied to EmmaJava's topic in Literature, and Rhetoric and Composition
I applied to my top two schools first, before I caught an error in my SOP. I used "compliment" instead of "complement." Luckily, I was able to re-upload the documents so HOPEFULLY they didn't see. I've been accepted to one of the programs, anyway. In regards to the fit/name dropping paragraph, I really did not want include a name. When I showed my statement to my mentor, she told me it was good but I needed to mention someone. I told her I was absolutely terrified to, but she was so firm that I conceded. I only applied to four schools, and I only added the names to three of four apps. I've been accepted to 2 (both SOPs with names) so far, and I'm waiting on the last two! -
Hi JeremyWrites! I'm kind of in the same boat. The reason I decided to pursue graduate school is because I want to teach freshman writing (I'd also like to get into writing center administration). I've applied to MA programs in rhet/comp, and have two TA offers. One is fully funded, one is half funded. I obviously can't give you the advice that other, more experienced posters can, but you're not alone!

@DestinyS Yeah, I can imagine living in St. Pete would be nice, but I don't really want that kind of commute.

Penn State English 2016

That's so frustrating. Most of the schools I've been in correspondence with respond within an hour and definitely by the end of the day. -
Yup! That's what my program recommended to me- New Tampa or Temple Terrace. There are SO many options that it's kind of overwhelming!

Penn State English 2016

I'm thinking like mid-March, so maybe in a week or two. I'm still waiting on Penn State and one other school, but I'm also assuming a rejection from Penn State & I'm not so sure I even want to attend the other (wish I realized that before the $85 app fee). I agree, I heard back from my other two schools a lot earlier than I anticipated, but I was already pretty antsy -
Hi guys! I'm currently apartment searching in Tampa. I'm not 100% sure if I'll be attending USF, but it's looking that way. Are there any apartments to avoid/any to definitely look at? I've been told Temple Terrace is a nice place to live. Any advice would be very much appreciated, as looking at apartments from 1,000 miles away is difficult. Thanks!

Thanks for the update! Yeah, they're not very reliable in terms of communication. -

Hi guys, I'm in at USF too (for rhet/comp)! I'll be at the open house in March as well.
