Hey, everyone. Thanks for clicking into this thread. I have just got accepted by San Francisco Art Institute Photography MFA this year. It is a good news to hear but I am still not 100% free from the anxiety. I know this school has a rather long history and many famous alumni and alumnus, especially in photography field, like Annie Leibovitz. But it not accurate to measure the quality of school only by some individuals achievements. So I really want to get some first hand information about how do you think about the education they offer (like faculty, campus and facilities) there and experience about living in SF (I heard its a really expensive city to dwell) and how do you career go after the graduation as a photographer (or artist) Since I am an international student so it will be great if there are other international students who attended SFAI can answer my questions. I am really grateful to everyone who read my post and please give me all the information you have about this school. I really appreciate your generous help.

Yup, I do heard the rumor about this school and that's why I want to get more information directly from students. Which schools are you waiting for now? I hope the good news will arrive soon!

Congratulations! I got their offer as well. Are your familiar with this school or do you have any friends attended there before? I have some difficulties with finding detail informations about this school, especially their teacher student ratio in MFA, facilities quality and post-graduate (career related) information. Thanks a lot and we may be classmates this fall.

I also heard not all programs consider interview as a must, some of them will give out the offers without interviewing.

Hey guys, I sent emails to schools, asking about the interviews and one of them just replied me . The officer asked me to provide the legal name I used for application. Does that mean they can look it up whether I will be interviewed and will there be any harmful effects to my application? I guess at this point I am a bit over sensitive now... Thanks a lot for helping me out

Thanks，dude！ The interview went well but was much shorter than I thought. I had the interview with the MFA Chair, don't no whether it will be same for you. It was a delightful interview, and questions weren't tricky or difficult. The professor asked my about my work and although my portfolio was majorly consisted with photos, he particularly likes the video I handed in. And to be honest my portfolio covers a wide range of different genres of photography which may not be common. So he asked me which direction I am planning to pursue in the future study. Besides that, the professor also ask my opinion about the program, and inform me that this program is highly interdisplinary, involving a lot collaboration with students from other majors. My advice is relax, being polite and be yourself. The professor is friendly so don't be afraid of asking questions if time allows. I am surprised they still haven't finished interviewing all applicants now. It seems that we have to wait longer for get the final result. Hope my experience will help, and good luck!

Hey, guys. I just found this forum a few days ago, hope it's not too late to say hello. I am so glad there is a freak-out forum, gathering art students around the world and helping each other instead of losing their minds while waiting for the reply of their dream school, LoL. I am a photographer and filmmaker, but I would like to regard myself as a foodie who loves gym, traveling and music. I present the inspirations from all this areas in my photos and videos. Looking forward to encounter others who share the common interests. The school I am applying are: SVA SFAI (Interviewed on 2.20) Columbia University Calarts RISD The programs are all about photography/studio arts or multimedia. Anyone have the same application list?
