  1. ^As a native Minnesotan, I second LL Bean! Super high quality. I can also not stress enough the importance of dressing in layers during the winter. I've officially enrolled at the University of Minnesota for this fall! I've started looking into field placements and I'm getting pretty excited.
  2. Congrats to everyone making their decisions! I wish the best for all of you. I decided to decline admission to Michigan and instead will be attending the University of Minnesota next fall. With my current financial situation (I have a decent amount of debt from undergrad) it just made a lot more sense to go in state.
  3. Oh, awesome! Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
  4. Huh. I did apply to some special programs but I haven't heard anything about those decisions. I might try calling them and asking about it. Yeah, that's what I've been told. Both schools have programs that fit my needs so either way it'll be okay!
  5. No, they didn't. Is that only for MI residents? Because that would explain it. I'm OOS. I'm currently unemployed so it's definitely not the income, lol. Oh well. I was pretty upset for a couple hours but I'm feeling a little better now. Minnesota is the other school I applied to and it'll save me a lot of money. Regardless of which school I attend, I'll still be getting a MSW degree and working towards my career goals!
  6. Received my financial aid package today, which essentially made my decision for me. $3,000 of work study and $20,500 in loans to cover an estimated $60,000 of expenses?! I wasn't expecting for everything to be covered but I'm just not sure how they expect anyone to be able to afford that, especially when going into a lower paying field. I'm considering attempting to negotiate it but I'm also not sure if it's even worth the effort. I'd need a lot more to be able to go there.
  7. Personally, I'd take the full ride without a second thought. But I don't know what your financial situation is. I will say that the prestige of a school matters less than people tend to think (but this can depend on what field you're going into). As long as you're confident you'll still have decent career opportunities in the future, I'd go with the funded option.
  8. As someone who is also currently in a long distance relationship, I agree. You should focus on your career goals and what is best for you (including your financial situation). If your relationship is solid, long distance shouldn't be too much of a problem. It's certainly not ideal but it is only temporary.
  9. I have to force myself to only check my email once a day. I've received admissions decisions from both schools I applied to but definitely getting impatient waiting for financial aid!
  10. I applied to the University of Minnesota and the University of Michigan and got into both! I'm waiting for financial aid to make my final decision. I'd love to go to Michigan but seeing as it's 3 times as expensive as Minnesota, it'd take a pretty hefty aid package for me to be able to go there.
  11. Hi all! I applied to Michigan on Feb 1 and just received notice of my admission today! Pretty excited that I got in but unfortunately it'll take a substantial amount of aid for me to even be able to consider it. Does anyone know if decisions for the special programs have been made yet?
