  1. Classes Tuesday and Thursday, TAing MWF. Just got my first syllabus and my TA assignment yesterday - definitely have some reading to do come August. I haven't even found an apartment yet and probably won't be able to move in anywhere until 9/1 - that's going to mean at least a week of hotel living. Whole situation has been kind of a mess so far, but I'm confident it'll work out in the end. Moving across the country is way more of a pain then I remember it being last time.
  2. I'm not even sure how often the cohort from the 2013 thread come around here anymore, but if you're like me you can't believe there is still ANOTHER month left until you get back into the stacks again. Between trying to find an apartment across the country, saving money, dealing with moving dilemmas, I'm just ready to begin the next phase of my career! I'm trying to enjoy the last free month for the next five years, but it hasn't been easy.

What are the pros and cons of living in Manayunk, cosidering I'll be attending Temple in the fall?

Park Ave is prob. the way to go
  5. Classes for the upcoming semester were JUST announced and I'll be taking the first section of the graduate US History survey, a required methods course and I'm not quite sure what else. Probably an Atlantic World seminar, but I think I need more information about my TAship before I can decide that. Might audit a language course as well so I can start getting that requirement out of the way. I've visited Philadelphia once so far, met with the DGS (who is great and, I was pleased to discover, is leading the intro US survey in the Fall) and a graduate student and explored a few neighborhoods. I'm just spending the summer trying to save as much as possible and find an apartment from 1000 miles away.
  6. how big are intro level history (or humanities in general) classes?
  7. Ha, yeah I'm pretty happy I like my school's colors cause a new t-shirt is def. in order

Monty's Krown has a lot of local punk shows too, if that's your thing. But as others said, the Bug Jar is the best for smaller local acts, with Water Street drawing the more mid-level touring bands.
  9. You made the right choice. Gotta be happy or your work will suffer, you know? And I'd rather be just outside DC that smack in the middle of Indianapolis.
  10. Yeah, I've been watching it, but no one has posted there in like a month so I figured I'd give this a shot instead
  11. thanks everyone!
  12. Bump for 2013? looks like this is where i'll be
  13. well, the long national nightmare is over - i got a funding offer from Temple, so barring something unforeseen, that's where I'll be come August. glad to be finally over with this process...congratulations to all my fellow members of the 2013 cohort!
