  1. I have taken my degree through Athabasca, including SOSC 366. I got an A or A- in that course. I have enjoyed the courses they offer and most of the tutors are very good to work with. I had a massage therapy diploma, so I was able to do the bachelor of professional arts majoring in human services in just over 2 years. The course fees also include your textbooks, which is nice. If you have any questions about Athabasca let me know!
  2. FrogMirror, I honestly haven't looked at Waterloo. My thing is that I live in Toronto and have no desire to move anywhere else, I have moved enough and want to stay here. So I would need either a distance program (which UVic offers), a program in the GTA, or go to Orillia a few days a week and stay with family or friends in the area but still be able to come home to Toronto on days I don't have school. I may look into the online courses Waterloo offers though. I know to get into the UVic program I need 2 courses I don't have yet, I could have taken them as part of the degree I am finishing up but there were too many other courses I wanted/needed to take, so figured I would leave them for after the degree if I don't get into U of T.
  3. Thanks! That's awesome that you also want to work with the LGBTQ population. There is still a lot of work to be done to help trans identified persons, and work is just starting on the needs of trans older adults.
  4. I'm also job hunting and if I don't get in, I am going to take a couple of the intro to social work courses from either Thompson Rivers or UVic and apply to the distance UVic BSW program and possibly the Lakehead one in Orillia. Would have to talk to my parents about staying with them for a few days a week if I do the Orillia one (I'm from Orillia but live in Toronto). Then once I have a BSW I will reapply to the U of T 1-year MSW programs for the geriatric specialization. That's my plan. I am determined to become a geriatric social worker no matter what it takes. I want to focus on helping trans older adults and ensure they have safe spaces to live and turn to when they need support.
  5. I'm staying on it and hoping for the best. Already emailed them my response and got a reply right away that they received it. Just wish they would tell us more about how the wait-list works so we would know our chances of getting into the program.
  6. Just got home and got my U of T letter in the mail too. I am also on the waiting list for the 2 year MSW program. Really hoping to get into the program. It's the only one I applied to because I really want the gerontology specialization they offer, and made sure to put that in my application. So the waiting game continues... Good luck everyone who's on the list or still waiting to hear from the school(s) they applied to!
  7. Seeing that people have received letters from UofT makes me want to go home to check the mail. Really hoping I made the wait list since I haven't been accepted yet. Do they tell you how many people are on the list or where you are on the list?
  8. That is good to know. My ROSI still says "no registration" was really hoping that would change today. Would almost prefer it if they had a set day to let everyone know whether they were accepted, wait listed or rejected. I'll just have to cross my fingers and continue refreshing ROSI!
  9. My ROSI still says no registration. Hopefully it will change at some point today, really want to get into the 2 year MSW program.
  10. Glad I found this forum. I applied to the 2-year U of T MSW program and am anxiously waiting to hear! I'm finishing up a degree in human services through Athabasca with a fairly high GPA. I want to do the geriatric specialization and made that very clear in my application, so now I want to see if I get accepted. Good luck everyone! (And to those already accepted, Congratulations!!)
